Intro flight on the SLING trainer in Windhoek (+ birdstrike in the sim!)

This video is the final in our series covering aviation in Namibia and going deep inside the various parts of the Westair group of companies.

Today Gabe visits Signa Aviation, where all kinds of training happens, and gets to try out two very fun things. First, he flies the Sling, a beautiful South African trainer aircraft, on an introductory flight out of Windhoek Eros Airport. It’s a hot day and that means it’s bumpy with plenty of thermals in the air. Watch to see how he does handling it.

Then next up, Gabe steps into Signa’s Cessna 406 twin-engine simulator, and on the second round they throw him a birdstrike on takeoff. Can he manage an engine fire and successfully land with one engine out? We shall see.

3 hours (transatlantic!) in the Dash 8 cockpit

Then it’s time to climb onboard and make the 5.5 hour trek back to South Africa.
