How to fly to Mongolia (through Russian airspace!)

Today Gabe is setting out on a new adventure to Mongolia, and getting there efficiently from Stockholm means flying via Beijing (PEK) on Air China and then up to Ulaan Baatar (UBN), via Russian airspace. These days the Chinese carriers have a big advantage on routes between Europe and Asia because of their ability to transit Russia’s airspace, shortening journey times significantly.

Watch to see what it’s like flying over Siberia to Asia like we all used to do a few years ago – and what Air China is like on the A350 and 737MAX, how Beijing’s Capital Airport is to transit through and more. Finally you’ll get some nice views of the vast expanses of Mongolia’s wilderness on the approach.

Up close with the COMAC C919 (China’s A320 competitor!)

The COMAC C919 is China’s entry into the commercial aircraft market and to be honest, Boeing and Airbus may need to worry. Gabe got a chance to visit and tour the aircraft inside and out at the Dubai Airshow and this aircraft looks and feels like the real deal.
