Flying the CRJ-900 in South Africa (CemAir cockpit)

Welcome aboard CemAir and its CRJ-900 for a very fun jumpseat ride from Cape Town to Johannesburg and back. Join Gabe airside at CPT with plenty of action on the ramp as we head over to the aircraft. It’s a foggy morning on the Cape and quite busy with the morning bank of departures. We join the very experienced pilots Boyd and Peter as they brief the cabin crew, prepare for departure and get us on our way.

Experience all the flying fun from the cockpit including takeoff and landing at both Cape Town and Johannesburg. Learn some interesting facts about the CRJ including its lack of auto-throttle and the differences in flying characteristics between the older CRJ-100 and -200 versus the newer -900 that we’re on today. Also learn about why the -900 is especially “slippery”.
