Air France A350 sim training! (We play FO)

Take a seat with Gabe in the right seat of an Air France A350 – in the newly inaugurated wing of the Air France training center at Paris CDG. That’s right, we’ve got quite a bit of time in the simulator to see how a typical recurrent training might go. And Gabe gets to play along as First Officer all while holding a camera in his hand.

We show you all about what it takes to taxi an A350 to the runway, get it up into the air and then land it again (at Marseille in this case) from the FO’s perspective.

Later on Gabe gets to take a crack at the landing, and this is an extra cool experience because these A350 simulators (like on the real thing) feature HUDs (head up displays). Will he grease it or break some landing gear?

Finally we get a look at the system the instructor uses to change scenarios and insert failures, all to make sure Air France (and other) pilots are trained up, current and ready to fly the real things.

And we take a walk around at ground level under these impressive simulators, plus take a look around at some of the back rooms, servers and machinery that makes them work. Very impressive stuff.
