777-300ER cockpit flight with Etihad!

Today we’re flying in the Etihad 777-300ER flight deck. We’ve got the jumpseat from Rome Fiumicino over to Abu Dhabi’s new Zayed International Airport on EY86, and this is the first time we’ve done a 777 cockpit video.

We’ve got plenty of power, a great crew, and of course, some GPS jamming once again. We’ll take a look at some of the software Etihad uses for increased situational awareness and flight planning too, hear from the pilots about such diverse topics as whether they like the 777 and why, what they have to do in the 777 when they lose the GPS, how the radios work, high terrain escape route planning, Airbus vs Boeing, how they calculate the mix of thrust reverser and braking on landing and more. Our crazy planespotting mission in Tokyo

While we were in Tokyo recently we wanted to find the most exciting way to go planespotting around Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) — and we found it! Instead of sticking to the usual spots, we took a water taxi out onto Tokyo Bay to get up close to the runways.
