In this video we ride along on the A320neo flight deck to Funchal in Madeira – one Europe’s most difficult landings, famous for its unpredictable winds and remarkable runway stretched over the sea on top of massive support beams. Lufthansa brings us along in the jumpseat from Munich (MUC) to Funchal (FNC), a roughly 4-hour flight, and along the way we get to hear some fascinating info from the captain about operating to Funchal as well as a number of other insights into being an A320NEO captain.
Look out for some nice views of Mont Blanc by the way, and some other nice scenery too. But nothing can beat the landing views into Funchal, including Porto Santo just to its north and the 180-degree right turn over the island to land on Runway 05. Enjoy!
