A Closer Look at the Weather: New High Resolution North American and Australian Radar

High resolution North American and Australian radar is now available on Flightradar24.com and in our flight tracker app for iOS and Android. The new weather layers offer higher resolution and faster refresh rates and add to our global satellite weather coverage already available. Both the new North American radar and Australian radar layers are available to users with a Gold subscription.

North American radar

The new North American radar combines imagery from radar stations throughout the contiguous United States, southern Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. With 1 kilometer resolution and frequent update rate the radar layer offers superb detail and timeliness.

Australian radar

Australian radar is a composite image of precipitation in Australia at 2 km resolution with a quick refresh rate.

How do I get the new weather layers?

The North American and Australian radar layers are available with a Gold subscription. On Flightradar24.com, click Settings, Weather, and select the layer you wish to display. In iOS and Android, tap the Weather button and then select the layer and opacity you’d like.
