Global Airlines has made big headlines with its bold plan to not only start an airline in a challenging environment, but to exclusively utilize the Airbus A380. With the aim of operating four aircraft in total and with one acquired so far, the startup says it’s aiming for luxury, space, and nostalgia. But in an era of lean operations and smaller jets, can this superjumbo startup take off? Do you think Global Airlines will be a success? Let us know in the comments.

“Luxury, space and nostalgia” (whatever that means) sounds like a high cost airline. That’s a lot of seats to fill if a higher price point is needed. And there is probably a reason that no low cost carriers use the A380. They will need to be ultra-competitive on any route they fly to make it pay, for the company and the passenger. My vote: No, it won’t work.
God Speed!
Can they weather the ability to manage revenue when they start getting computers filling their source with fare wars?
Option 1) be a low cost carrier that operate at busy routes like lhr to jfk. Success rate: 50%
Option 2) be very expensive (Concorde price model) offer a first class better than emirates, but you’re not going to fill all the seats(or just make the seats real spacious and charge real expensive) success rate: 0.01%
It won’t last, that’s if it even gets started.A lot of money will be spent and wasted here
Hopefully it will!!
Another UK Airline on the horizon!
I wish them good luck but I am not hopeful.
Launching at a time when US is doing its best to discourage visitors is particularly unfortunate.
Nostalgia on an A380.. so the target market is people who flew with SIA all those years ago?? I wish them success as I love to fly on the A380 but can’t currently afford to. Problem is, that with the A380 it is likely to be long-haul routes that they are flying, and since the pandemic I’ve only been able to afford to fly to European destinations (from the UK)
I think it could be worth a try, but it will be difficult to pull off. It is a risky venture with an all A380 fleet. It is limited to airports, and it would require high passenger density in the massive aircraft. It would probably look more fitting if this airline was Saudi Arabian or some country with a bit more money! I think there is minimal chance of seeing success. But if it has a Premium Travel Experience, a unique selling point and a big focus on long-haul routes then it will be hard to ignore. Good luck!!
A profitable luxury flight operation on aircraft that have a Max Take-Off Weight of 575,000 kg (1,267,658 lbs)?
