London Luton Airport (LTN) is one of 5 major London airports, and a major hub for EasyJet (U2/EZY) and Wizz Air UK (W9/WUK). It has just secured government approval for a significant expansion project, which includes a new terminal, additional taxiways, and more aircraft parking stands. However, the proposal has faced opposition from some groups, particularly over concerns about increased noise in nearby communities. What’s your take? should Luton Airport move forward with its expansion? Let us know in the comments.

DEFINITELY
YES I flow and it is so small
Should add a runway for planes like 757 and 787 to land that how they could make more money
It comes down to if they really will get their desired passenger amount. I think that London Gatwick & Heathrow are the ones to focus on that region of expansion. Could be a plus. ‘See it to believe it’.
Yeah I agree
I do not think so
They have to go in circles
Definitely, expansion of smaller airports lessons disruption when there are problems at the larger ones, eg Heathrow’s electrical fiasco.
Yes, provided they stop fleecing car drivers. The parking and drop-off charges are eye-watering.
NO . it should be moved out of the city , but with a fast rail service to it and better parking for all. London does not need the extra pollution .
100% agree. More smaller airports with good transport links to cities and wider area as not everyone landing in “London” actually wants to be there so they use transport links out. What about better utilisation of former RAF airfields, especially ones with in place excellent links? This could make the air transport system more resilient whilst lessening the impact on cities. I suspect politics will come into play and we’ll continue to expand the “London” to Birmingham corridor.
London Luton is in Bedfordshire with fast rail links to London.
All airports should be outside of cities with good transport links back into those airports
Carlisle Airport has to be open to east
Moved into the city
Luton should be made bigger
Cost benefit analysis has shown Carlisle Airport would never get near to break even. Newcastle and Manchester Airports are the best gateways for international tourism for the Lake District. Business travel demand to London was insufficient to support any service due to competition from rail which goes city centre to city centre.
A great airport actually! Seems however the real estate there is non existent.
LHR expansion may help or Gatwick?
Most Definitely it would be good for jobs that are much needed in this area. And hopefully attract engineering companies associated with the aircraft industry.
No. With Heathrow and Gatwick expanding there is no need to expand this airport. It has limited transport connection expansion possibilities without major disruption to the local community, and the additional flights will cause more noise pollution for those in the local area too.
Both Bournemouth & Southampton airports are very underused. The runways are long enough to take all jets and all other facilities are excellent
