Boeing 787 vs. Airbus A350 – which do you prefer?

The Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner are two of the most advanced widebody jets operating today. Known for their reliability, fuel efficiency, and use of advanced technologies, these aircraft now form the backbone of numerous long haul fleets across the world. Whilst both jets have their plus points, if you had to choose, which one do you prefer to fly on?

  1. The 787. They are both about the same for me but what edges the 787 to the lead is that the engines look cooler on it 😄.

  2. i like both I’ve only flown on Qantas 787-9 syd-akl in premium economy and i loved it cant wait for Qantas a350s to arrive, i would however prefer the looks of the a350 to the 787 it just looks beautiful.

  3. Having flaw on both these aircraft, I would say a 350 I prefer state of the art aircraft have been on dream line early days when it first come into commission nothing really to talk about you cannot compare the two

  4. The 787 is definitely more comfortable. I’m based in Atlanta, will make connections to avoid the A330 or the A350. My local airline has a fetish with the Buses.

Even though my company pays for Premium cabins, the “One” cabin on the 330 Neo Suites and the 350 Suites are the smallest most uncomfortable lay flat seats of any airplane.

    1. You must be a big man. I have flown business in both and far away prefer A350. More silent, state of the art, modern designs. It also depends in the airline configuration… but always looking for A350 in my routs

  5. While I have flown the 787-9 and the 330-200 with Hawaiian and the 787-9 with United, I still have not flown on the 350-900 until this summer on Delta. Will comment then.

But should the comparison be based more on the specific airline that roll out better configurations, with an eye to First and Business Class offerings, that really bring into the issue who is best with which aircraft type.

  6. The A350 because I am not sitting one floor above a massive LiOn battery.

  7. My family and flew with the B787 800 from Madrid to Miami and back, it was a very smooth flight! But with all the problems Boeing has to deal with we are preferring now to fly with Airbus in general !

  8. The 787-9 is much smaller inside and the sheets are very uncomfortable compared to the 350-9 Not even close when comparing economy seats.

  9. It’s a hard question. Personally I’m not so able to express too technical evaluations. But I can’t forget the initial events of the 787-800s and I feel safer when flying A350.
In terms of comfort, I flew 787/800 both with ANA and Air Canada, business class. ANA was offering more privacy but a more claustrophobic accomodation. Zero privacy in Air Canada’s seat layout. And for me, who do love to watch outside the window, it is unpleasant that the cabin crew adjust the “opening and closing” of the windows as they like. Much better the old shade I’ve experienced in the A350-900 of the Thai Airways business class, with a comfortable but a bit more narrow lay-flat accomodation on the Rome-Bangkok leg. But this does not depend on the type of the airliner, but on the airlines’ commercial choices. Economy class? Bad experience both with ITA’s brand new A350 and Austrian 787/900: too crowded and uncomfortable for the long distances.

  10. A350 no question! I was flying both in Business and Economy with multiple airlines – and I love the A350!

  11. B787 for me. Flew LHR/TYO last year on A350. Recently flew LHR/BGI ON B787. Much preferred the B787. Thought cabin fitted out on former was inferior, 787 felt sturdy and did not rattle and shake on take off & landing like it’s rival.

  12. Honestly having flown on both, The 787 looks nicer IMO but the a350 is more comfortable. I still prefer the 787 due to it’s better fuel efficiency per seat-mile and just overall it’s looks. I wont lie tho the cockpit of the a350 is amazing. So the 787 has nicer looks and better with fuel efficiency but if your looking for comfort regarding the seating the a350 is a lot more comfortable. 😀

  13. Does it not depend on the specific airline and their cabin design and lay-out more than on the type of aircraft?

    1. exactly, i don’t think that it’s really relevent to compare the intrior of some airplane like this if the company didn’t choose the same feature. But some feature can be compared, like sound level…

  14. …since 1964 – I was flying – all around the globe; actual I do prefer the Airbus 350 !!!
…Boeing has to revump their whole productions – of all aircrafts – this needs several years – and will never fly the B737-Max aircraft !

  15. I flew on both types during a recent trip to Australia (A350 to Singapore, B787 to Adelaide). I don’t think there is much between them from a passenger perspective. Class and carrier are much more significant.

  16. I’ve flown on both many times and would happily get onto either. They are both great aircraft. However nothing beats the old 747-400, especially in the top cabin behind the flight deck

  17. Flown both many times and would happily get onto either – they are both great aircraft. But the GOAT has to be the B747-400 upstairs

  18. One the one hand you could argue that the A350 is ideal as it has large capacity and a long-range capability, more powerful engines, but the B787 is a good choice for airlines as it has a balance in range, good capacity and fuel efficiency where the A350’s extra capacity won’t be needed. Although with Boeing, the 787 isn’t selling like it should be so I think the A350 is better as it has a good wide cabin, spacious seating (In most cases) and it definitely has passenger comfort in mind when being designed. But both aircraft are superb in different ways.

  19. AIRBUS is the better and the best one. Built by German, French Specialists.
Made in Germany guaranties best quality, best technology, safety.
Drive a Porsche, Mercedes Benz and you never will buy a Lincoln, GM ,etc.again.

  20. Have flown on A350 and B787 with Virgin Atlantic and B787 with Air Canada. The Dreamliner is far more comfortable and slightly quieter. Perhaps I’m biased having visited the Dreamliner assembly factory at Everett (near Seattle). The facility there is so large the tour is done by bus!

  21. The cabin of the A350 ist wider then that of the B787. The cabin of the A320-Family is wider then that of the B737.
    Airbus for me.

  22. A350 ulr has superior range , that’s why Qantas has ordered them.
787-10 is bigger than 787-9 but has less range.
    Perhaps a 787-10 ulr is needed ???
