  1. I would say the Boeing 747. It has been going for a longer time with more variants and versions and used by more operator (Passenger, freight BBJ). Sad to see it going. 😢

        1. Nope, A380 all day and everyday.
Looks better, Quieter, more comfortable wider seats (Emirates).
          There is no competition.

          1. I absolutely agree Airbus over Boeing all day and everyday 🙂

          2. I recently flew on a flight with a transfer and flew with both brands and types.
Personally, I thought the seats on the Airbus were more comfortable and the engines seemed a bit quieter. 👍

            P.S.
the blankets in the KLM premium comfort class feel wonderful. I would like to take them with me. Unfortunately, I was raised too neatly, so the blanket stayed on the plane. 😑 😉

        2. No its not the Airbus A380 is newer, safer and more sophisticated so flying it is very safe and only skilled pilots fly it.

        3. I agree, the 747 it’s for ME, the best option, I have traveled on both planes, adn the flight service on board is easer and better, like big restaurante and mid size restaurant, the same for Pilots, the have to have more more workload, besides the high tech. on flightdeck,
the flight I feel smooth on 747’s then on big doble deck 380, the winds aloft are from 60 knots to sometimes above 250 knots, imagine that wind on crosswind at 39,000 feet, (i’m corporate pilot)

    1. Good morning, this is Larry Lovett, I am an Air-Traffic Controller here at CYHZ, Stanfield International Airport in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada. I was the only Canadian survivor of the collision of Pam-Am Flight 1306 and KLM Flight 7806, back in 1977, where 519 people loss there lives in Northern Tenerife. So as for the Jumbo 747, 747-400 or 747-800, I won’t fly in those again. Nor will I fly in the Airbus A380-300, cause of poor manufacturing that has been shown and nothing has been brought up to light about the matter.

      1. Wow …..that’s crazy that must have been scary ….your kind of a legend …and I honestly Agree I think that there cool aircraft in all but neither are the safest or most reliable…:/

    2. I agree. The a380 was never made into a cargo plane. The US government chose the 747 for the presidents plane. They used the 747 to carry the space shuttle. The a380 has just been a passenger plane

        1. And of course you choose Airbus for a similar reason. Variety is the spice of life.

      1. Of course, the US President uses a Boeing, it’s an American plane built by American workers. To use anything else would be a stab in the back for American workers.

    3. The Queen of the Skies… Boeing 747. Has 4 of everything. Love the space on it. She is a *legend* and always will be. Nothing can beat a Lady like the beautiful Boeing 747. She will forever reign as *The Queen of the Skies*.

If you ever flew on her, you would understand.

      1. Have flown on Boeing brands over many years including 747 100,200,400 and 8 and more recently Airbus 380. The latter is quiet and comfortable but so too is the 747-8. I do so like the physical appearance of the 747 “Queen of the Skies” compared to the dumpy 380.

    1. For the last ten years I have used much more than 300 flights, and maybe 40 times A380 or b747, but ….. don’t touch this comparison. B747 was first giant, but A380 is better for last ten years, also my “smooth operator”

  2. Yo prefiero el A380, es más nuevo pero diría que el B747 lo conoce todo el mundo.

  3. There is and will only ever be one QUEEN of the skies and that will always be the B747.

  4. A380 was probably the most miserable flight I have ever been on – and I have flown some crap flights in my life.
747 – of course, predates Boeing decline into unreliability.

    1. I have flown four times in the A380 and twice in a B747. For me there is no comparison. The A380 is far and away the better. There is much more room on board and it is extremely comfortable – though I admit that might have something to do with the carrier. But being inside the A380 inspires a sense of awe that the 747 never could. I’m in my late 70s now but the A380 took me right back to my childhood when standing beside a huge express steam engine had the same effect on me.

  5. We refer to the 747 as Big Bird after our flight to Hawaii. We have flown this aircraft a few times both in coach and first class upstairs. It is comfortable stable powerful and above all reliable!

  6. I prefer the B747 , I liked the upstairs section as it was quiet and exclusive. The A380 upstairs part is nothing special. Carrying less passengers the 747 gives more of a sense of space, and disembarking and waiting for luggage is quicker .

  7. American bias. Take your blinkers off, the A380 is an engineering masterpiece.

    1. A380 is not special, there are less variations and you people keep on talking about the gosh dang seats in the 747, well it depends on the airline, if you take first or business class you get better seats but, got to be real THE 747 IS THE QUEEN OF THE SKY AND THAT HUNK OF JUNK CANT BEAT IT.

  8. Boeing 747 Queen of the sky for ever…
I even felt in love with the “baby 747″…the B-747 SP !!

However I would admit that the A-380 is a very very very good aircraft, very comfy…but my heart’s choice is the B-747.

  9. Looks wise the 747 wins by a mile. And I really don’t want to be on a plane with 400+ people so I would avoid the A380 anyways. I prefer smaller planes and less congested airports when traveling.

  10. To look at or fly in? If the former, the 747 easily. While an impressive piece of engineering, the 380 looks like an overweight whale.

  11. a380 its more quite then the 747 and also I’m not American or European so i am not biased by country

  12. Obviously both are wonderful aircraft however three travellers chatting in their seats in front of me exclaimed surprise that we had landed and were taxiing, the A380 was that smooth and quiet (upper floor cattle class). For me that describes succinctly the difference between the two aircraft. The 747 was a marvel of its time. It’s now the A380’s time. – written from Australia

  13. Nostalgically the 747, my first long haul back in the beginning of the 80’s, and it’s awe inspiring size, inside and out, versus anything I had been in before, but the A380 does everything with such finesse and size, well….there’s room for just about anything 🙂
From an exterior point of view the 747 will always be my favourite to see approaching and landing….but then I’m a classic car fan too!

  14. The question is a bit retro for most of us. Gotta be lucky to find a 747 taking pax nowadays.

  15. The A380 all day and everyday is by far the best of the two. Better looking, Quieter engines and cabin, wider more comfortable seats in economy (Emirates), I can’t comment on other carriers.
747 is dated, nice plane but not even close to an A380.

  16. I prefer A380. Not just because of the advantages like comfort, modern design, but also from a pilot’s point of view. A380 is more easy to fly, safer… But honestly, we all know that these legends are both dead. R.I.P.

  17. In general I prefer Aibus airplanes above the ones made by Booing. They are more quit, comfortable, modern and safer ( statically ). The smooth flight in a A380 is unpresedented. A 747 looks ‘prehistorical’ in that respect.

  18. I have been on flights with both types. My absolute winner is the A380. For my trips, I even will take detours to fly with an A380. A380: smoother flights, spacier aircraft. I love it. (Enjoyed A380 with Lufthansa, Emirates, Air France).

  19. by far the 747 is a stable and evolving platform. its track record is very good. not so much for the 380. the 747 should be and will be labeled the best for many years to come.

  20. 747.
Favorite when I was younger was the 727.
    I enjoyed a flight in a 777.
Flew on 707’s many times from Lax to Dulles and back, after seeing Aunts/ Uncles & Cousins in MD & PA.

  21. The 747 by a mile.It was the original and best.Airbus aircraft are excellent and there’s no denying that but if they listened to the experts including Boeing when the 380 was at the planning stage, they would have realised that there was no future for Jumbo type quads. To break even,Airbus would have had to build 700+.Only Emirates took delivery of the bulk of the 281, 380s built,Airbus would possibly have gone into liquidation. If the 380 is so successful why have so many ended up being scrapped ?The only reason that some 380s are still in use is the delay in receiving replacement A350s and B777 X series as it’s more cost effective to fly a pair of those twin jets than a single 380 !

  22. I have to pledge allegiance to the “Queen of the Skies”. In May of 1971 I took my first ever airplane flight. I was not quite 12 and my mum bought my younger brother and I new suits, just for flying! We flew a brand new B747 YYZ-AMS along with hundreds of our new closest friends. They allowed a group of us kids to visit with the pilots and they told us we couldn’t play on the staircase. Mum kept every one of the possible souvenirs that she could – paper coasters, salt and pepper shakers, you-name-it, she kept it. We finally tossed them a few years back when cleaning out her house. On the way home, our flight was changed to two smaller aircraft (Martinair – DC8’s?] because a hurricane on the eastern seaboard grounded the B747 in NYC.

  23. A380 far superior comfortable ,quiet, better in turbulence, excellent piece of engineering

  25. There is nothing that compares to the smooth flight with the A380.
    The spacious cabins.
    The low noise.

I have flown the A380 with Lufthansa, Emirates, AirFrance. All great experiences.

I prefer to book flights on A380 if possible, even when it takes longer traveling time 😁

  26. Hello Charles Neil
Waiting of bagage delivery is not due to the aircraft but what the airport furnish people and loader

  27. Have flown both long haul on 747s from the 1980s and also the A380, and I go with the A380 any day, smoother, quieter and more comfortable. The 747 is showing its age in many ways; no matter how many refits it’s had, it’s still the old plane.

  28. a380 FOREVER IT IS TRHE BEST IVE BEEN ON ONE
OF COURSE A380… AIRBUS OF BOEING
