Radar Data in North America Now Real-time

The first question on our Frequently Asked Questions page has long been, “What is the difference between the yellow and the orange planes?” We will be removing that question from our FAQ because radar data covering North America is now available in real-time. That’s right, no more orange planes. Beginning today all of the flight traffic on our site—ADS-B, MLAT, and radar data—will be live.

Radar data is now real-time. No need for orange icons any longer.

Real-time radar data and flight information also helps with a few other issues, including reducing the number of duplicated flights on the map. Duplicated flights appear when our matching engine is unable to determine that two flights are actually the same flight. With the live radar data and some new processes on our end, the number of duplicate flights will decrease.

Airport Pins

We've added the ability to control how many airport pins are displayed on the map.

We’ve been listening to your feedback since the release of the new version of Flightradar24 and today we’re introducing a new setting to control the maximum number of airport pins displayed on the map. Using the Visible Pins slider in the settings menu, choose how few or how many airport pins are displayed on the map. The new settings are available under the Map settings tab.

Playback Settings

it is now possible to adjust map settings directly from the playback data page.

We’ve added settings adjustments to playback so you can control the type of map you see and the units for speed, altitude, distance, and time. You may find those settings by clicking the gear icon in the upper right of the map.

Other Improvements

In addition to live radar data, airport pins, and playback settings, we’ve made some improvements to search, enabling you find what you’re looking more quickly and more reliably. We’ve also taken care of some bugs. And for Premium subscribers we’ve added the ability to hide the photo displayed when tracking a single aircraft—perfect for when you’re using FR24 on a smaller screen and want to see more of the flight details.
