We’re excited to introduce our new dual-band receiver for better flight tracking in the United States. Our new dual-band receiver combines an ADS-B 1090 MHz and UAT 978 MHz receiver in one unit, making it easier to track even more aircraft in the US.
Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) signals broadcast on 1090 MHz are how we track the vast majority of flights on Flightradar24. Due to the volume of aircraft in the United States, Universal Access Transceiver (UAT) broadcasting on 978 MHz was developed as an alternative primarily for general aviation aircraft operating only below 18,000 feet. With more than 200,000 general aviation aircraft in the United States, the ability to track UAT-equipped aircraft with a single Flightradar24 receiver will grow our coverage of a large group of aircraft much more quickly.
How is this receiver different from the single-band Flightradar24 receiver?
The new dual-band receiver combines a 1090 MHz and 978 MHz receiver in the same unit, with connections for each of the required antennas. The only difference in the receiver kit is the inclusion of a second antenna. Each antenna is clearly marked for easy installation outside and connection to the receiver unit inside.
If you live in the United States and want to host a dual-band ADS-B/UAT receiver, please visit our application page to apply. Beginning the process is easy, just answer a few basic questions and our team will begin reviewing your application. Be sure to check the box under Optional questions that says you want to also host for UAT traffic.
If you live in the United States and already host a Flightradar24 receiver and would like to host a new dual-band receiver, please contact our support team with your receiver ID and your willingness to install a new dual-band receiver. Our team will assess your receiver location and make a determination if a dual-band receiver will improve UAT coverage in your area. Dual-band receivers are currently limited in supply, so it may not be possible to replace your receiver at this time.
If you live in the United States and you’re currently sharing data with Flightradar24 via a Raspberry Pi receiver and you would like to host a dual-band Flightradar24 receiver, please visit our application page and note your current receiver in the appropriate section.
As a Flightradar24 ADS-B/UAT receiver host, you’ll be contributing to the world’s largest ADS-B receiver network and improving flight tracking in your area. When hosting a dual-band receiver, you’ll need to place the ADS-B and UAT antennas outside with an unobstructed 360° field of view. You’ll also place a GPS antenna in an area with sufficient view to acquire a signal. The three antennas will connect to the receiver unit. The receiver unit needs power and an ethernet connection. From there you’re all set up and ready to start tracking flights!
As a receiver host, you’ll receive our Contributor subscription, which includes all the top tier Flightradar24 features.
Absolutely! We encourage all applications. If you don’t live in the US and having a receiver in your area will increase flight tracking coverage, we’ll send you our single-band ADS-B receiver kit. Installation is the same as the dual-band receiver, but with just one radio antenna.

how do I apply from outside the u.s.?
Hello, you may apply to host one of our single-band receivers at https://www.flightradar24.com/apply-for-receiver. Thanks!
Does the antenna need to be outside or can it work inside?
For best reception the antenna should be placed outside as high as possible with a 360 degree view of the sky.
We live a mile from a no-tower airport, 7 miles from another no-tower airport that has bigger-than-average traffic, and within 20 miles of several private airports. In watching the sky overhead, there is a lot of traffic from learners practicing stalls and falls, to military jets, which have fallen out of the sky around us. Now we see some strange aircraft practicing standing on end, then tail sliding a distance, then light afterburners, and then move off. We have seen refueling being done on larger birds from tankers.
We have the place to put your dual band receiver 60′ up. We would only need about 120′ of feedline.
Hi Christy, please visit https://www.flightradar24.com/apply-for-receiver to apply to host a receiver. Thanks!

I am a Flightradar24 feeder station and I want to upgrade to the new dual-band Flightradar24 receiver, with Mode S (1090 MHz) and UAT (978 MHz). My station is F-PHOG2 located at 4,000 vrt.ft. on Maui, Hawaii. I have been a feeder for you since 2016-08-26 at 07:15:03. Today my Global Rank is 850, my U.S. Rank is 102, Max Range 325, Average Range 170. In years past my global Rank would hover around the low 200’s. I’ve been waiting for you to issue the duel band receiver. With it I can supply you with better data and hopefully get my Rating back into the 200’s… Aloha, Henry (Station Name, Waiakoa)
Hi Henry, thanks for hosting a receiver! If you would like to upgrade to the dual-band receiver, please message our support team directly and they’ll be happy to help assess your location for the upgrade.

Here in Northern Estonia I need such box…
I don’t see lightning arresters included with the kit. I feel like that would be safest. If there is no lightning suppression or protection, could you please recommend the appropriate devices so that I would be able to source them in for pricing?
Does Flightradar 24 sell the new Dual Band recieveravailabla to new hosters as a kit to purchase?? or is there a list of parts available to build yourself.
I, live in Johannesburg, South Africa. I am some 25 kilometers from Lanseria Airport, which airport is to the west of Johannesburg. As you are undoubtedly aware, Lanseria is the Africa alternative to O R Tambo Airport ( formerly known as Jan Smuts Airport ) to the east of Johannesburg.
Can I offer to host a receiver ?
Kind regards,
Willie vd Schyf.
Currently host my own RaspberryPi4 with single mode. What image and equipment do I need to buy to change to dual-band?

I would like to host a single-band ADS-B receiver for free. Can I get one of this kit for free? Or at a reasonable price?
Hi Amer, please use the link above to apply to host a receiver. If approved to host a Flightradar24 receiver, we’ll send a single-band receiver based on your location. Thanks!
Am intersted in helping out with my partiscipation.
I live in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, and would like to have a dual-Band flightradar track 24 reciever.
I am interested in hosting if the installation isn’t too difficult. We have planes flying overhead all the time, close proximity to international airport, busy local airport, and AFB.
I would really like to host a receiver.
I got rejected for a location spot to host one of these new receivers for free. But can I buy one of these complete receivers outright so I can monitor the air traffic personally? It’s so nice looking and complete. I don’t want to build one from scratch.
Thank you!
Are the plans available so we can self build a receiver?
I’m interested in hosting a dual band receiver.
I’m just curious as to how much Data does this add (ballpark estimate) to your internet, each month?
Hi
I m located 20 Miles North from Bogotá Colombia and would like to host one of your Receivers .

Hello, I live in South Florida and would like to receive one of the dual receivers I have a lot of air traffic in my area.
Hi Frank, please use the link in the main post to apply to host a receiver. We appreciate your interest and look forward to seeing your application. Thanks!
Hi There –
I applied for a receiver a while back, but (sadly for me) you have ample coverage in our area. I would however like to BUY one. If you could sell me one, or point me to a supplier who has everything already kitted together that would be great! I find trying to assemble all the compatible parts, power supply, case, SDR Dongles, rubber duckie antennas, etc. to be “a twisty maze of passages”.
I haven’t found any place where I can just say “Ship me the kit” without doing a ton of research and wild goose chasing!
Ian – If you all can’t or won’t do this, maybe you could partner with someone like Adafruit to do it?????
Warm Regards,
Bill Finkelstein
Sonoma County California
Hi Bill, we do not currently sell our ADS-B receiver or kit, but we can recommend https://webshop.jetvision.de/ for ready-to-track receivers. They sell specific components as well as full kits. From there you can connect the receiver to the Flightradar24 network and share data with us to receive a complimentary subscription. Thanks!
Ian, I’m the Flyover Country host for KFLP, hosting for several years. I made my request for this new receiver about a month or so and was rejected. I’m guessing because general aviation is not very common in Flyover Country! Should I re-apply or will you keep my request alive for awhile? The max and average range are really far with the present receiver but GA traffic is not like cities on the coast.
Hello, we keep requests on file and periodically review applications as coverage needs may vary. At the moment, we’re prioritizing dual-band receivers for areas with substantial GA traffic, but as we continue to produce more dual-band receivers, our requirements may change. Thanks!
Live in Paso Robles, California. Have used for many years to track flight. Former pilot in Alaska. Would enjoy hosting a site.
I live in Manitoba, Canada, near the Winnipeg airport. I see lots of traffic daily, and I would love to be able to have a receiver. I am still new to tracking and plane spotting, but I would be very thankful to have a new receiver. I have been using Flight Radar for over a year and have about 9 dozen photos from my camera. Lots of the AC-130 and other military/government aircraft. Thank you for the time to read this and the opportunity to have a proper Receiver.
Is it possible to purchase this kit? I’ve been hosting for a whie but would welcome a cleaner, dual band installation.
I am on the west coast of southern Vancouver Island British Columbia. Every day I am astounded then number of overhead flights. Many are on Flightradar24 but many are not. So many international flights, military, Government and private planes. A tracker here just north of Seatac and west of Vancouver International could be a boon for Flightradar24.
Hi Chris,
You can read more about how it works and apply to host a receiver here: https://www.flightradar24.com/apply-for-receiver
I’m definitely interested in hosting a receiver. I live in Lower Hutt, New Zealand

Geachte,
Lucas.
Hi Luk,

I’d like to host a receiver. Would it be acceptable to mount the antennae on an Al shaft at the top of which is mounted a wireless weather station?
Gerry S
I live in San Diego so I doubt you need more coverage here. But, can I buy one?
I have applied several times and you have turned me down to host a receiver. I assume because the area I live in (NYC/Weehawken NJ) is already well covered. Is there a way I can still buy your receiver kit from you? I know I could get my own SDR and RPi and down load and configure things, but your kit seems well put together and would save me some time and effort.
