We’ve just updated the search function on the main Flightradar24.com map page to make finding the flights you’re looking for even easier. These updates bring the features that have been available in the app to the web and improve the speed and responsiveness of search as well. In this post we walk through some of the updates to show you how to get the most out of the new features.
What’s new in Search
With the old search functions, you could find a flight by searching for the flight number, call sign, registration, or route. Those functions are still at the core of search, but now, the results are much richer and more helpful. When searching for a flight now, the results for any live flight can be expanded to show arrival, departure, and aircraft information, as well as links to additional information about that flight. For any live flight shown in search results, clicking the aircraft in a circle icon brings you directly to that flight on the map.

Expanded search results on Flightradar24
See departure and arrival information, aircraft specifics, and choose to follow the live flight or access historical data for that flight number or aircraft.
New search shortcuts
We’ve also added four search shortcuts: Flight by route, Live flight by airline, Airports by country, and Nearby.
Flight by route
In the search bar, typing in any two airport codes separated by a dash (e.g., JFK-LHR) will display live and recent or upcoming flights on that route. But what if you don’t know the airport code? With the new Flight by route tool, just enter the airport name or location and you’ll see a list of airports to choose from.

Live flight by airline
No mystery here, this search returns a list of live flights currently being operated by a particular airline.

Live flight by airline search results
Scroll through the list of live flights for a particular airline ordered by flight number.
Airports by country
With airports by country, you can select any country and then view a list of airports in that country. Clicking on a specific airport will open additional menu items. Clicking the airport pin inside the circle will take you directly to that airport’s location on the map.

Nearby
Nearby lets you find airports or flights near your current location. When you first click nearby, we’ll request permission to access your location to display relevant flights.

Nearby search results
Nearby results will be most accurate if you allow Flightradar24 to access your location.
