This week we released an update to the information panel visible when following flights on Flightradar24.com. We’ve made the info panel cleaner, clearer, and added additional information about each flight. We’ll go through the updated panel top to bottom to point out some notable features.
About the panel

The flight information panel is shown on the left side of the screen whenever a flight is selected. All flight data is collected in the panel and organized into different sections like flight, aircraft, movement, and data source. We’ve also added a new myFlightradar24 section.
The panel is now responsive for a better viewing experience across a wide range of devices and screen sizes. We’ve also expanded our tool-tips and unit conversions, so you can hover your cursor over a value and view definitions of terms or converted units.
And as part of this release, not only has the design been updated and information added, but the panel should load faster thanks to the completion of our systems migration and infrastructure updates. Our flight tracker app users already have some of this data available and the new features now available on Flightradar24.com will be coming to our iOS and Android apps in future releases.
Flight information

The first thing you’ll notice about the new panel is that we’ve expanded it a bit. This allows us to show additional data and a larger photo of the aircraft from the JetPhotos catalog.
Just below the aircraft photo is our reorganized flight information section listing the flight number, call sign, airline (and operating carrier, if applicable). Underneath that you’ll see scheduled times and the estimated time of arrival for the flight. We’ve redesigned the flight progress bar to more clearly display how much time and distance have elapsed and how much remains.
All of the blue tabs are expandable to show additional information about the flight. By clicking on the More [Flight number] information tab, you’ll see the Great circle distance, average flight time, airline logo, and arrival information—which can include terminal, gate, and baggage belt information. Please note that arrival information is currently limited outside of North America. You can also click ‘More flights’ to view playback of previous flights with that flight number.
Aircraft information
We’ve added data to the aircraft information field, making it easier to quickly view an aircraft’s recent flight history. Also new is a registration flag. When expanding the Recent flights tab, you’ll see the four most-recent flights by that aircraft. Clicking on a flight will show you scheduled and actual times and provide links for additional information and flight playback.

Movement information
Movement information remains the same as in the old flight information panel, but with the expanded panel size, the altitude and speed graph is easier to read. You can still expand the graph by pressing the four arrows icon in the top right of the graph for a larger view.

Data and data source information
We’ve updated how the source of the flight data is displayed and provided a short explanation for different types of data sources, like ADS-B, MLAT, radar, and FLARM. You can also help us increase flight tracking coverage in your area by applying for a receiver.

myFlightradar24

We love tracking flights, but we also love keeping track of flights. myFlightradar24 lets you keep track of all of your flights, compiles statistics and generates visualizations based on data you enter and data from Flightradar24 flight tracking. You’re now able to see myFlightradar24 frequent fliers for a particular flight and any myFlightradar24 users currently onboard (if users have a public profile). myFlightradar24 also contains reviews for flights, aircraft, airlines, and airports to help you make informed travel plans.
More

But wait, there’s more! Pressing the More button in the bottom right corner of the info panel pulls up quick links to our data pages, letting you research flight and aircraft history, and see data about the origin and destination airports for the flight. Business subscribers can also quickly add a selected aircraft to their custom fleets. Hide other aircraft will show just the selected aircraft on the map, without the route projection shown when you press the Route button.
We’re always working on updates to Flightradar24.com and our iOS and Android mobile apps to make our flight tracking experience even better and you’ll see those updates rolling out soon. If you have any questions or comments, please get in touch. Happy tracking!
