We’re continually working to enhance our flight tracking coverage, and installing new Flightradar24 ADS-B receivers in strategic locations plays a vital role in this effort. These receivers significantly increase the visibility of aircraft in an area and improve tracking of aircraft movements at lower altitudes and on the ground. Each new installation substantially enhances the overall tracking capabilities, benefiting both individual users and business applications.
Let’s take a closer look at our latest installation in Dhangadhi, Nepal.

Dhangadhi Airport (DHI/VNDH) serves as an important aviation hub in western Nepal. We only had very limited ADS-B coverage in the area previously, and the activation of a new receiver has greatly enhanced the quantity and quality of flight tracking data, especially at lower altitudes and close to the airport.

The new receiver in Dhangadhi became active on March 30, 2025. In the 48-hour period before installation (March 16–17, 2025), we recorded 17 aircraft positions in the region. Following the receiver’s activation (March 30–31, 2025), the total increased to 714 positions, representing a remarkable 4,100% increase.

Improving ADS-B coverage ensures a superior flight tracking experience. Users can now track aircraft movements more accurately, from gate to runway, and gain clearer insights into the locations of aircraft across the entire region.
How Flightradar24 ADS-B receivers work
Flightradar24 ADS-B receivers capture signals broadcast by aircraft equipped with ADS-B transponders, which provide real-time data such as position, altitude, and speed. These signals are sent to Flightradar24’s network, processed, and displayed on our platform. By installing receivers in strategic locations, particularly near airports, we can offer more comprehensive and detailed coverage for users around the world. Interested in learning more?
