Why are receivers at airports so important?

Receiver installations near airports provide unparalleled coverage of flights at very low altitudes and on the ground. Ground obstacles around airports, like sound-dampening berms and buildings, make having receivers as close to aircraft as possible a critical factor in ADS-B coverage. Having receivers located as close to the airport as we can—or better yet, at the airport—solves this problem and enables us to provide precise real-time coverage of ground movements. Ground coverage allows us to catalog departures and arrivals with greater accuracy, including important gate arrival and departure events.

How to host a Flightradar24 receiver

Flightradar24 ADS-B Receiver Kit

Hosting a Flightradar24 ADS-B receiver is easy. We send a complete receiver kit, including the receiver computer, ADS-B antenna and hardware mount, GPS antenna, and all the cabling necessary for installation. Installation is simple as well, with no software to install, the antenna just needs to be placed in an area with a clear line of sight and the receiver connected to power and internet.

The application process is easy too. Begin here with a short form to let us know your location and a little about where you plan to place the receiver. The best place to put the ADS-B antenna is outside as high as possible with a clear view of the sky away from any obstructions.
