Flying a Super King Air up to the middle of nowhere in Sweden!

11.8K views 2021-06-28 20:00

In this video we take a rare scheduled flight on the legendary Beechcraft Super King Air 200, from Stockholm Arlanda up to Sveg (EVG) in the middle-north of Sweden.

The flight is a regularly scheduled service by Jonair, a small Swedish airline. Jonair does a mixture of scheduled and executive flying, with a fleet of Beechcraft King Air and 1900, plus a Citation XLS and even some helicopters.

Getting lost trying to find the check-in, departing out of a private terminal with no security check, having the plane to ourselves, chatting with the pilots, time-traveling back into winter and spending a few hours checking out some of Sveg's unique sights before flying home on the same plane – this was a fun day out.

Relaxing flight on the Lufthansa 747-400. Last -400 ride ever??

8.8K views 2021-06-21 19:14

In this video we take our time to soak up the Queen of the Skies vibes on a Lufthansa 747-400 flight from Seattle to Frankfurt? The flight was taken in October 2019, and little did the author know this might be his last 747-400 flight ever.

See the previous 747-400 flight video, on British Airways, here:

And Flightradar24's last blog post on the 747s still flying:

One last flight on the British Airways 747 (warning: may cause nostalgia)

23.5K views 2021-06-07 18:25

In this video we take a look back at what it was like to fly in the Upper Deck of the British Airways 747, in Club World (business) class. The footage was recorded in October 2019 on a flight from London Heathrow to San Francisco. The Queen of the Skies did not disappoint, as ever. We didn't know this would be our last transatlantic run on the BA Jumbo at the time (and we're kind of glad we didn't), but in the end it was a fitting farewell. BA has plenty of new planes these days and a much better business class product (the Club Suite) as well. But the 747-400 will always have a special place in our hearts.

Keeping the Fokker 50 flying: inside the last maintenance base in Europe

5.9K views 2021-06-02 19:45

In this video we get an exclusive look inside one of the world's last remaining Fokker 50 maintenance facilities. The shop, located at Malmö's Sturup Airport in the south of Sweden, is owned and operated by Amapola Flyg, the small airline we took a flight up to the far north with back in March. Join us as we spend some time around these Dutch beauties, chat to some of the mechanics and see how with the right know-how you can keep a Fokker 50 running like a dream well into its thirties and beyond.

From the flight deck: flying one of the last Fokker 50s in Europe

With only about 200 ever built worldwide and far fewer still in service, finding a Fokker 50 to fly can be quite a challenge. But the Fokker 50 is the heart and soul of small Swedish airline Amapola Flyg, which got its start carrying mail and now operates passenger flights to smaller communities throughout Sweden. Gabriel Leigh recently joined the crew from Amapola for a trip from Stockholm to Hemavan and back.

Stay tuned for more on Fokker 50 as Leigh visits the Amapola Flyg maintenance facility.

Flying a rare Swedish prop: a trip on the Saab 340

If you want to fly on some rare older props, Sweden is a good place to do it. After flying on the hard-to-find Fokker 50 ( our next goal was to catch a ride on a homegrown plane: a Saab turboprop. Flying on an (almost) private A350 with Scandinavian Airlines

19.2K views 2021-05-17 15:09

Flying on an (almost) private A350 with Scandinavian Airlines. In this video we fly on the Scandinavian Airlines A350 in SAS Plus premium economy on the long run from Copenhagen to San Francisco. We take a look at the current SAS long-haul service, what the Scandinavian Airlines premium economy is really like, and what makes the Airbus A350 such a lovely aircraft to fly. There were so few passengers onboard that it almost felt like a private flight. Watch to the end for some beauty shots of San Francisco taken on the approach!

More on the SAS A350 and what the airline planes to do with the fleet in coming months on our recent blog post:
