Singapore Airlines (SQ/SIA) currently has the longest commercial flight in the world, which is operated by an Ultra-Long Range version of the Airbus A350. The airline has held this record since the end of 2020, with the Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN/WSSS) – New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK/KJFK) route.

TOP 1

As you can see through our database, Singapore Airlines offers a daily frequency on this route with Airbus A350-900ULR aircraft configured for 161 passengers in two classes (67 seats in Business and 94 seats in Premium Economy). The SIN-JFK segment averages 18 hours, while the JFK-SIN leg takes about 17 hours and 45 minutes.

Flights from Singapore to New York are operated via the Pacific Ocean, and their entry to the USA is usually over Alaska or Seattle, as well as some flights through Canada. According to our data, entering over Alaska is about 11 hours of flight time over the Ocean, and 13 hours in the case of Seattle, averaging the same total flight time on this route.

Meanwhile, the New York – Singapore flight is performed through Europe and Asia, passing by countries such as the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Malaysia. There may be changes in the flight path and route over countries, due to weather and/or air traffic.

Singapore Airlines (SQ/SIA) provides seven weekly flights between Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN/WSSS) – and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR/KEWR), New Jersey’s main airport and one of the most important hubs in the United Airlines (UA/UAL) schedule.

On the SIN-EWR leg, the flight time is about the same as SIN-JFK, at around 18 hours, and over 18 hours and 30 minutes on the EWR-SIN segment. Singapore also operates Airbus A350-900ULRs configured with 161 seats.

As for the third longest flight worldwide at present, in terms of distance, we must change airlines, moving from Singapore Airlines to Qatar Airways (QR/QTR).

Qatar’s flag carrier has a daily frequency between Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH/OTHH) and Auckland International Airport (AKL/NZAA) with Boeing 777s aircraft, configured for 272 passengers (42 seats in Business and 230 seats in Economy). On February 5th, 2017, the airline inaugurated its longest route using Boeing 777-200(LR), starting in April 2023 with Airbus A350-1000s, which were replaced by 77Ls as of June 1st, 2025. The DOH-AKL route takes approximately 15 hours and 15 minutes, while the AKL-DOH leg averages 16 hours and 45 minutes.

Both flights usually perform the same route, flying via the United Arab Emirates, northern Oman, southern India and Sri Lanka, and operating the next five to six hours over the Indian Ocean. The flight modifies its course over Australia, which may be due to weather and/or air traffic.
