Flightradar24 Goes to Farnborough

Yesterday we had the pleasure of attending the Farnborough Air Show, touring some of the static displays and taking in the impressive flying displays. The air show opens to the public this weekend, 16 and 17 July. You can track much of the airshow with our short guide.

Inside Airbus

Thanks to our friends at Airbus we were able to explore both the A350 and A380. Airbus brought A380 F-WWDD (MSN 004) and A350 F-WWCF (MSN 002) to Farnborough this year. Both aircraft are test aircraft, though the A350 is fitted with a cabin, while the A380 is not.

We’ve previously toured and flown F-WWCF, but this was our first chance to view the active HUD on the flight deck.

Boeing to the MAX

The Boeing 737 MAX made its air show debut at Farnborough this year on static and flying display. We were able to catch a glimpse of the 737 MAX, but unfortunately we were unable to take a look inside. The MAX is Boeing’s latest iteration of the successful 737 line due to enter service first with Southwest Airlines next year.

Also on flying display was the 727 Oil Spill Response Aircraft, seen below demonstrating its new low-level dispersant capability.

Selling with Stickers

Farnborough is, after all, a trade show, where the companies who manufacture aircraft court those who buy them. Dornier did their best to make sure their Do-329-110 stood out.
