Over 60 aircraft will appear in the flypast celebrating the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla in London on Saturday May 6. The display will pass over Buckingham Palace at 14:30 BST/13:30 UTC, but the aircraft will be visible mustering in the East from 13:15 BST/12:15 UTC and dispersing in the west as late as 15:00 BST/1400 UTC.
The flypast will showcase a wide breadth of UK military aircraft, including helicopters, transport aircraft, trainers and fast jets according to the Royal Air Force. The RAF Red Arrows display team will also appear to close the procession. Aircraft movements will be viewable in areas of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Central London, Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. So – quite a few opportunities to catch the display in person, but what if you’re not on the ground in the green and pleasant land?
Tracking the Coronation Flypast with Flightradar24
We’ve already put together a handy video guide on setting up filters on Flightradar24, but here’s an overview of two ways you can use our filters to identify and follow the Coronation flypast. “The best and easiest way to follow the flypast is with our new Military and Government category filter available in Flightradar24 Beta. This will show all the aircraft we’re tracking in the flypast with a single click.
Filter by category
Selecting ‘Military and Government’ under categories will filter your view to display these aircraft. Take a look at the Greater London area and you should see the flypast routing in from East to West. Note that Open Beta is currently only available on the web. For a way to view the flypast in the Flightradar24 app, see below.

Filter by aircraft types
For an even more detailed view, head to custom filters, and select ‘aircraft type’. You can now enter the individual types that will feature in the flypast. Again, take a look at the areas to the east, center, and west of London. You can also use filters by aircraft type in the Flightradar24 app. Separate aircraft ICAO type codes with a comma to add multiple aircraft types to your filter. You can read our blog post on adding aircraft filters in the app here.

Whilst most aircraft participating in the flypast will appear on Flightradar24, some may not for various reasons. Aircraft operating in close formation will often use the lead aircraft’s transponder only as a way to avoid collision advisories, so a flight of six aircraft may appear as one aircraft on Flightradar24. Other aircraft may not be equipped with ADS-B and some of the helicopters in particular may be flying below our coverage area during some portion of the flypast.
To view all aircraft types appearing in the flypast, simply copy and paste the codes below into your Flightradar24 Beta aircraft filter.
