New Flightradar24 Receivers for the First Two Weeks of February 2016

We activated nearly 100 new receivers in the first two weeks of February, expanding coverage in a number of key locations. We activated five new receivers in Australia, expanding our coverage area there, with especially good gains in Western Australia. To the east, we added receivers in Fiji and French Polynesia, helping to boost our coverage of trans-Pacific flights.

New receivers in Alaska and Alberta, Canada are also helping with trans-Pacific flights. Receivers in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut, Canada, eastern Quebec, and New Brunswick are adding coverage to trans-Atlantic flights. A new receiver in the Azores and three new receivers in northern United Kingdom are also helping with trans-Atlantic coverage.

In the United States we continued to expand our coverage area in the western states and added even more MLAT coverage there, too. In the central eastern part of the country we added new receivers to boost our MLAT coverage. Four new South American receivers, especially a new receiver in Suriname, are adding coverage there as well.

We also activated four new receivers in Iran, including two along the highly trafficked route between the Gulf hubs and Europe. A receiver in northwest China and one in northeast Kazakhstan are adding coverage in those areas as well as helping to cover more overflights between China and Europe. Three well-placed receivers in Russia are doing the same.

Here’s the full map of all receivers activated during the first two weeks of February (click to enlarge).
