In December we activated nearly 100 new Flightradar24 ADS-B receivers and hundreds more people around the world built their own receivers to contribute data to our network. These receivers and tens of thousands of others helped us track 4.5 million flights this month.
We activated 10 new receivers in Africa this month, including two in Tanzania and receivers in Libya, Ghana, Morocco, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Receivers in southern Turkey are providing good coverage in the eastern Mediterranean. Other receivers around the world continue to fill in small coverage gaps and bring the altitude at which we maintain MLAT coverage nearer to the ground.

New Flightradar24 Receivers in 2017
In 2017, we activated nearly 1000 new Flightradar24-supplied ADS-B receivers and nearly 7500 people around the world built their own and joined the Flightradar24 network. In 2018 we’ll continue to expand our terrestrial network and begin to add new and exciting sources of ADS-B data.
We tracked 58,988,624 total flights in 2017, our greatest number of flights ever. We also set a new daily record on 24 August with 190,003 flights tracked.
