New Flightradar24 ADS-B Receivers Activated in August 2016

We activated almost 200 new ADS-B receivers in August, which helped us set two new tracking records. On 26 August, we set a new single-day record of 180,458 flights tracked. And for the month of August, we set a new monthly record of 5,193,332 flights tracked—our second month in a row tracking more than 5 million flights!

In August, we activated 27 new receivers in the United States, 21 in China, and over one dozen in Brazil. Receivers in these countries are adding new coverage as well as helping us increase our MLAT coverage area.

We also activated our northernmost receiver in Greenland, increasing coverage of high latitude transatlantic flights.

Two new receivers in Cairo have expanded our coverage area in Egypt significantly and are now providing us with ground coverage at Cairo International Airport. Elsewhere in Africa, we activated new receivers in Benin, Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, and South Africa.

Here’s the full map of all receivers activated during August (click to expand).
