The aircraft descended and may have been attempting to land at an airfield near Kavala, when the last ADS-B signal was received at 19:47. Eyewitness accounts and video appear to show fire prior to it impacting the ground.

At about 19:40, while crossing the coast of Greece, the ground speed of the aircraft begins to fluctuate and the vertical rate reported by the aircraft’s transponder begins to increase.
