Merry Christmas near Toowoomba

The pilot of a Pacific Aerospace CT-4B Airtrainer based at Toowoomba decided that their Christmas card this year would be 40 km by 40 km, sketched across the Australian sky.

VH-ZCT departed Toowoomba at 16:06 local time on 22 December for a nearly two hour flight that included a “Merry Christmas” message, a star, and a tree ornament. The aircraft landed back at Toowoomba at 17:57 local time.

The Pacific Aerospace Airtrainer is aptly named as it is generally used as an… air trainer. This particular Airtrainer was formerly used by the Basic Flying Training School for Australian military pilots. It is now in private hands following the transition by Australia to the PC-21 for basic flight training.

Joining the Christmas club

VH-ZCT joins the ranks of aircraft that have been used to draw a special Christmas message. Earlier this week two pilots, one in the UK and one in Poland, created Christmas trees with their flight paths. You can read more about the history of drawing Christmas trees with an airplane elsewhere on our blog.

Merry Christmas!
