  • No injuries to passengers and crew
  • NTSB investigating why gear did not deploy

A Delta Air Lines (DL-DAL) flight made a successful landing in Charlotte (CLT) without its nose gear deployed on Wednesday. The 717-200 (N955AT) was operating flight DL1092 from Atlanta (ATL). There were no injuries to anyone on board. The NTSB says it is investigating the incident.

Delta flight 1092 departed Atlanta at 11:40 UTC (07:30 local time) and made an initial approach to Charlotte’s Charlotte Douglas International Airport at about 12:20 UTC. After extending the landing gear, the pilots received a “nose gear unsafe” warning and discontinued the approach. A second low approach was performed with the pilots receiving confirmation that the nose gear was not extended. At 12:51 UTC the aircraft touched down on Runway 36L then sliding on its nose for a short time. The aircraft came to rest on the runway and passengers were evacuated via the forward exit slides.

Aircraft info

Delta flight 1092 was operated by a Boeing 717-200 registered N955AT. The aircraft was delivered to airTran Airways in November 2000. The aircraft was acquired by Delta in 2014.
