Video: Exclusive – inside the new Scandinavian Airlines A321LR

Here’s an exclusive look at the first Airbus A321LR for Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). We take you through the whole aircraft both inside and out, and we speak to Per Tideus, product manager for SAS, who was responsible for the cabin we see today.

After a delay of several months, service on this aircraft is due to begin officially on March 27, 2022 between Copenhagen (CPH) and Washington DC (IAD). But it’s also operating a handful of special flights this week, first to Oslo and then to DC – so we can finally bring you this video now that it’s flying the general public!

This plane is unique not only because it’s the first long-haul configured narrow-body for SAS, but also (especially) because that includes a premium economy class (SAS Plus) laid out 2-by-2. While it’s not unusual to find an A321LR these days configured with lie-flat business class seats, as many airlines are turning to these planes to serve less-trafficked routes that nevertheless have some demand, finding a premium economy like this onboard is completely new. It’s a lot like flying domestic first class in the US – not a terrible way to cross the Atlantic at all.

In this video join Gabe Leigh on a roundtrip from Johannesburg to Vilankulos in Mozambique and back. Outbound is on the ERJ-135 and the return is on the ERJ-170 (including a business class “solo” seat sold as economy). These are quick and simple flights but the service is exceptional considering the flight length and the scenery is even more so.

Video: Flying the legendary DC-3!

In this video we take a very special sightseeing flight aboard Daisy, an 80-year old DC-3 maintained and kept airworthy by an organization in Sweden called Flygande Veteraner. SE-CFP flew in D-Day and later flew for SAS, and it wears a fetching classic SAS livery to this day.
