Please by all means rant again on mylar helium balloons, also because they are a waste of precious and perfectly good helium.
Anyway to link it more firmly to aviation, ever wondered at AMS about the signs in the central hall saying “no balloons”?
Unfortunately as with any rule, people don’t obey by them and usually nothing happens…until it does (sounds familiar).
Earlier this month a stray mylar balloon drifted away in the underground train station and caused a short circuit (PS: you missed risk to wildfires in your list of hazards). The resulting fire and removal of power caused all train transport to/from the airport to halt for over an hour. Probably a few pax who missed their flights, but no numbers.
Not the first time this happened, hence the signs at the stations entries (why they keep selling them yards from there remains a capitalist mystery).

Estoy satisfecho de este servicio, aquí puedo enterarme de los contratiempos en los vuelos, esto son muy bien detallado de una forma muy profesional…gracias por su servicio 💯👍
The sequence of events on United Airlines flight UA613 sounds intense! It must’ve been a very stressful situation for both the crew and passengers. It’s always interesting to learn more about the protocols airlines have in place to handle multiple unexpected challenges like this.
I was trying to access the pictures of the Arik Air 737 uncontained engine failure in the show notes, but the link instead took me to the flight history of the aircraft.
Can you please post a better link to the event flight and the pictures of the engine? Thanks!
