On this episode of AvTalk, the Dubai Airshow wraps up with a long list of major orders and other announcements. The FAA cancels its cancellation order and air traffic in the US returns to pre-government shutdown levels. Plus, anti-GPS jamming technology is coming from Fokker Services in early 2026.
We’re also joined by The Up Front editor-in-chief and Airbus A340-600 aficionado/historian John Walton for an in depth discussion on the development and staying power of Airbus’ longest airplane. AvTalk listeners have exclusive access to a special 24% off subscription rate to The Up Front.

You may want to do something on Concorde! Here is my app of the whole experience from check-in to take off to arrival.
I want to clarify your report on Embraer hailing the turning point of the PW1900 GTF in late 2026. Your response was hoping for similar for the Airbus products with more. This clarification is specific to the A220.
Embraer was responding to a P&W update status on the GTF family. Aviation Week reported on this update which included mention of both the PW1500 and PW1900. The message of the 2026 turning point applies to both the PW1500 and PW1900 which will have a similar outcome for the A220.

Am I reading that right on the fuselage of the A340-600, it says “Longer, Larger, Farther?
Best flight on AB340-500; Singapore used this model from SIN to EWR and SIN to LAX. One class 100 business class seats with 17 flight attendants. EWR to SIN was 19+ hours. Left EWR at 2330 and landed SIN 0530. Great flight timings as light snack after takeoff and body ready for sleep. Super wide seats. Wake up about 0200 near Lake Baikal in Russia, snack, watch a movie, fall asleep again and wake up for breakfast then landing. Great flight. Did twice.
