This week, Gabe Leigh joins Ian and Jason in Stockholm for a special episode of AvTalk. Gabe recounts his experience on the first Global Airlines revenue flight and we discuss the future prospects for the would-be, all-A380 airline. We also get into the interesting media relations strategy being pursued by Global Airlines CEO James Asquith.
We also cover Etihad’s aircraft order and surprise route announcement to Charlotte. Spanish investigators release their final report on a Lufthansa pilot’s incapacitation near Zaragoza last February. And the story of how the 747 deal between the US and Qatar unfolded gets murkier.

This is good and helpful app
Hi this is the first time I tried to listen to a PODCAST. Just listened for a couple of minutes. I was interested in the subject “of how the 747 deal between the US and Qatar unfolded”. It was so disapointing, because the two guys kept talking at the same time. For people having hearing aids(like me) it is impossible to understand what they are talking about.
Besides that telling stories longer than 20 minutes, without a brake, is the worst thing you can do!
I was only interested in the story of how the 747 deal between the US and Qatar . I had to search for that.
“And tell that friend who asked you for a podcast recommendation that AvTalk is the one they want to listen to next.” is the worst way to promote your podcast!!
Someone on r/aviation gave reasoning why having two people in the cockpit at all times might not necessarily be a no-brainer:
* inviting a cabin crew member would give off when the cockpit door is about to open
* need for increased security screening of cabin crew members
* something about jump seat logistics that I didn’t fully understand
That being said, being locked out of cockpit must have been terrifying for the captain and the crew.
On the Lufty SFO with the seizure. When I was in BA we had a similar situation. A 744 enroute to MIA the FO’s seizure shot his right leg completely stiff inputting full right rudder. The A/P kicked out but the Captain held the A/C straight and level until the seizure relaxed. In Miami the FO was found to have a massive cancer in his brain poor soul. This was in the early ‘90s.
The seizure sounds like what happens in hatchet!
It would be really good to know why all of a sudden I can’t get the 3D view for some time now, everything else works as it should and all the gobbledygook that comes up on screen when I try doesn’t help someone like me that’s old school, so I’ve just resigned myself that it’s never going to work,a bit of a disappointment as I used to enjoy it
