AvTalk Episode 155: Andy Taylor, Chief Solutions Officer

On this episode of AvTalk, we welcome Andy Taylor, Chief Solutions Officer, Digital Towers from NATS, the UK’s air navigation service provider. Andy explains how digital towers are reducing controller workload and helping improve safety in the air and on the ground. We also have the latest updates on Russian airlines and the fate of their leased aircraft and we catch up on some of the other stories from the past few weeks elsewhere in aviation.

Russian airlines keeping leased aircraft

With few exceptions, foreign lessors have been unable to recover their aircraft from Russian airlines. In the face of Bermuda and Ireland suspending the certificates of airworthiness for aircraft on their registry operated by Russian airlines, Russia passed a law allowing airlines to re-register those aircraft.

Andy Taylor, Chief Solutions Officer

Beyond his fantastic job title, Andy Taylor joins us to explain the idea of ‘digital towers’ in air traffic control and how the concept has evolved to be more than just cameras and screens.

Catching up on the news

We catch up on a lot of the news we’ve missed over the past few weeks, including the restart of Boeing’s 737 completion center in China, new aircraft orders, and the inaugural A319neo flight.
