Much like the United Nations General Assembly in New York each year, arrivals to the NATO summit in Vilnius have been some of our most tracked flights over the past few days. We used our data to highlight the routes taken and aircraft types used by delegates arriving at this year’s summit.
Canada
The Canadian delegation arrived on board Royal Canadian Air Force flight CFC1. The flight was operated by an Airbus CC-150 Polaris, a development of the Airbus A310. The aircraft departed Ottawa (YOW) on July 09, and arrived in Vilnius (VNO) on July 10 following a brief stopover in Riga (RIX)
Poland
Poland’s representatives flew into Vilnius on one of the Polish Air Force’s 3 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. These are military variants of the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ). The flight from Warsaw (WAW) took 49 minutes and landed at 21:04 on July 10.
Ukraine
It is believed the Ukrainian representatives arrived in Vilnius on another one of the Polish Air Force’s Boeing 737-800 BBJ aircraft via Rzeszów (RZE). The aircraft departed Rzezsów on a one-hour flight, arriving at 15:46 on July 11.
Located around 60 miles (96.5 kilometers) from the Ukrainian border in south east Poland, Rzeszów Airport has become an essential hub for movement of weapons, medical supplies and people in and out of Ukraine. We used Flightradar24 data to take a look at the seismic changes in operators, aircraft types and traffic using the small airport since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
