Learjet 45 crashes attempting to land in Mumbai

A Learjet 45XR crashed while attempting to landing in Mumbai during poor weather. Eight people, including six passengers and two crew were injured when VT-DBL impacted a grassy area to the right of the runway.

Initial reports described the accident as a runway excursion, which is the official designation for anytime an aircraft leaves the usable area of the runway. Upon review of the ADS-B data and video captured at the airport, it is clear that the aircraft rolled to the right in the air and crashed outside the runway area. What is not shown in the video is if the aircraft had previously touched down, though the ADS-B data indicates it did not.

The graph above shows the altitude, ground speed, and vertical rate of the aircraft for the final 11 minutes of flight at a granular level, as captured by a single Flightradar24 ADS-B receiver near the airport.
