The flights involved

Delta flight DL295 was taxiing for departure from Atlanta (ATL) to Tokyo-Haneda (HND) on Taxiway E. The Delta Connection flight DL5526 operated by Endeavor Air was holding short of Runway 08R on Taxiway H as it prepared to depart for Lafayette (LFT). The right wingtip of the A350 struck the tail of the CRJ, knocking the tail assembly to the ground. At the time of the collision, the A350 was traveling at 12 knots.

The aircraft involved
The Delta Air Lines A350-900 was delivered to the airline in 2017. The CRJ-900 was delivered to Endeavor Air in 2014, operating for Delta Connection since then.
Investigative updates

On 8 October 2024, the NTSB issued its preliminary report on the collision. The report includes a graphic indicating the CRJ-900 stopped prior to the hold short line. This left insufficient clearance between the aircraft’s tail and the A350’s right wingtip.
