Flight activity increased in June as airlines added to their schedules, but non-commercial flights continued to lead overall growth. In June, Flightradar24 tracked 3,555,769 total flights, down 42% from June 2019. Commercial flights, at 1,373,303 in June, were down 62% from June 2019.

The total number of flights tracked in June 2020 was down 42% from June 2019. Total traffic in May 2020 was 52% below 2019 levels. As in previous months, the increase in total flights is due mostly to non-commercial flight activity. Through the first six months of 2020, total flights are down 29% compared to 2019.

Commercial flights down 62% in June, compared to 2019
Commercial flight growth continues to lag total flights, ending June 62% below 2019 levels. However, commercial flights in June climbed 32% above May. Through June, 2020 commercial flights are 40% below 2019 levels.
Airlines again revised their schedules on 1 July to increase flight activity, including the largest European low cost carriers like Ryanair and easyJet, so we expect to see an increase in commercial activity in July statistics. However, flight activity could be hampered by renewed regional lock downs, as was the case in Beijing in June.
