United Airlines will launch a new intercontinental route from Los Angeles beginning in May, which will operate with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft configured for 257 passengers (48 Business, 21 Premium Economy and 188 Economy). Services will be conducted three times weekly.
According to its website, the first flight between LAX and Beijing is scheduled for May 1st. The Chinese capital will become United Airlines’ second destination in the country and the fifth in Asia from Los Angeles, including Hong Kong and Japan. It also operates to Melbourne and Sydney, each with a daily frequency.

Fiji Airways begins flights to Dallas
At 15:11 local time on December 11th, Fiji Airways’ inaugural flight from Nadi landed at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. DFW is the airline’s third destination in the United States and fourth in North America, all offered from the country’s capital.
Fiji Airways will serve three weekly times with 334-seat Airbus A350-900 planes.

Breeze starts operations from New Haven
On December 10th at 11:38 local time, Breeze Airways’ first flight arrived at New Haven’s Tweed Airport, launching its new base in Connecticut. The Airbus A220-300, registration N228BZ, landed from Fort Myers after a 2 hour and 24 minute flight.
At publication time, Breeze operates four routes to/from HVN, and will reach 10 scheduled services as of February. All will be provided by A220-300s.

Breeze Airways joins Avelo Airlines at New Haven, making it a two-airline airport for the first time in 18 years. The last occasion had been for a few months during 2007, when Pan Am Clipper Connection and US Airways operated at the same time.
Avelo continues to grow at HVN, by adding more routes in February, March, April and May. According to our database, it currently runs 24 routes, with an average of 15 daily departures and arrivals.
Air Transat to commence services to Berlin
The Canadian airline will inaugurate a new destination in Europe for summer 2025.
Operations to the German capital will begin on June 19th and will be offered on Airbus A321neo aircraft for 199 passengers from Toronto, twice-weekly.
Air Transat reaches 36 transcontinental destinations, being Europe the airline’s main market outside the Americas. Berlin joins Valencia, the other new route to Europe recently announced by the company, which will start on June 20th.

Silver Airways files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection
On December 31st, 2024, the airline announced its voluntary entry into Chapter 11 protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. This decision, as commented in a press release, is to secure additional capital and conduct a financial restructuring to improve its position as a competitive airline.
Silver is scheduled to complete this process in the first quarter of 2025.

Following two years, Arajet received approval from the U.S. DOT to commence flights to the United States.
The Dominican airline intends to begin operations in the second quarter of 2025 from Punta Cana and Santo Domingo to Miami and New York (EWR, JFK or SWF), as well as to San Juan in Puerto Rico.
This approval comes after the announcement of open skies between the United States and the Dominican Republic, which took place in November.
