After the first edition of the Latin American market summary last week, in this post it’s time to review the United States and Canadian market during mid-September and early October.
In one of the world’s most important markets, JetBlue‘s new service to Europe, which began at the end of September, is an important highlight. The airline operates to Europe with Airbus A321LR aircraft.
The inauguration in this case took place from Boston, reaching a second route to the European continent. In terms of connectivity to Europe, JetBlue‘s major airport is New York City’s John F. Kennedy Airport.
Air Canada
The airline announced the inauguration of a new route between Canada and the US as of March 28th, 2024. Operations will be carried out with Embraer 175 aircraft configured with 79 seats.
Air Canada plans a daily flight between Toronto and Charleston:

Air Transat
Air Transat will inaugurate flights to Peru starting in December. The Canadian company will operate from Montreal and Toronto with Airbus A321neo aircraft, configured for 199 passengers in two seating classes.
According to its website, Air Transat will have three weekly flights to Peru considering both routes:
- Montreal (YUL): effective December 26th · 1 weekly.
- Toronto (YYZ): effective December 20th · 2 weekly.

Alaska Airlines
At 8:56 p.m. on September 30th, the last regular flight of Alaska Airlines‘ Airbus A321neo arrived in Los Angeles. The aircraft in question has the registration N921VA, and is just over six years old. As a result, Alaska Airlines will once again be an “all-Boeing” mainline airline with Embraer aircraft operating for its subsidiary Horizon Air. The Airbus aircraft had been left over from Virgin America after Alaska’s acquisition of the airline. According to different reports, the last ten Airbus A321neo retired from Alaska will be incorporated in the short term to American Airlines.
Alaska’s fleet
New routes
Alaska will begin service between San Diego and Atlanta beginning May 16th, 2024. The airline will operate once daily on Boeing 737-900(ER) aircraft with a 171-passenger capacity.

American Airlines
For the summer season in the southern hemisphere, American Airlines will strongly boost its flights to South America from various of its hubs in the United States. Argentina, Brazil and Chile will receive increases, in addition to the restart of seasonal flights to Montevideo at the end of October.
Argentina
American Airlines will have a historic season in Argentina, with nearly six daily flights scheduled from December 2023 to March 2024. Between Dallas, Miami and New York, it will offer 38 weekly flights in the summer.

Brazil
Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo are currently on American Airlines’ operating schedule in Brazil. Galeao has flights to Miami, while Sao Paulo connects to Dallas, Miami and New York.
American will begin seasonal flights between Rio de Janeiro and New York starting next December 2nd, and will be available until February 28th, 2024.
As well as services to JFK, the airline will increase its operations between Galeao and Miami from 7 to 10 on December 4th, scheduled to run until March of next year.
Chile and Uruguay
In the case of Merino Benitez airport in the Chilean capital, American plans to resume the daily flight between Dallas and Santiago on October 29th. At the time of publication, the last service on this route is scheduled for March 31st, 2024, leaving Miami as American’s only destination in Chile from April onwards.
Also on October 29th, after a seven-month hiatus, flights between Miami and Montevideo, a route that is currently seasonal, will return. Until March 2020, operations were year-round.
American will offer three services per week to Uruguay, and between December 19th and January 9th, will fly once a day during the peak of the high season.
Puerto Rico
Beginning January 15th, 2024, American will resume service between Dallas and San Juan (SJU) with 273-seat Boeing 777-200(ER) aircraft. Currently, this route is served by Airbus A321neo.
American will have, in January and February, 4 of the 7 weekly flights with the Boeing 777s, and 3 during March.
Condor
Condor will launch seasonal flights between San Antonio (SAT) and Frankfurt starting May 17th, 2024. The carrier will operate with its Airbus A330neo, which can carry 310 passengers in three seating classes.
Being seasonal, the last flight is scheduled for mid-September.

Emirates announced a healthy amount of changes to certain routes in the Dubai – United States and Dubai – Canada markets between late October and early November.
The company currently operates 12 routes to the United States and 2 to Canada.

The Canadian airline will start two new routes from Canada in mid-December. Cancun and Kingston, in Mexico and Jamaica, will have new flights from Calgary and Toronto respectively.

JetBlue
The airline inaugurated its flights between Boston and Amsterdam on September 20th. Boston is JetBlue’s second destination in the Dutch capital after New York (JFK), where it operates once a day with Airbus A321neo aircraft.

JetBlue currently has three destinations to Europe at four airports. Amsterdam, London (LGW and LHR) and Paris are on the airline’s regular schedule.

New Pacific Airlines
After being obliged to change its name from Northern Pacific Airlines, the carrier has announced the inauguration of two new routes from Ontario, its main operating base, starting in November.

The airline had planned to resume flights between Newark and Hong Kong starting next October 27th, with a daily frequency on Boeing 777-200(ER) aircraft. At the time of publication, services will not begin until April 2024.

Israel
As a consequence of the war, airlines began to suspend flights to Israel and, in some cases, announced special repatriation flights for passengers from their respective countries.
In the U.S.-Canada market, Air Canada, American, Delta and United offered flights to Tel Aviv until prior to the outbreak of the conflict.
