November routes roundup: Etihad launches flights to Tokyo with A380s

Airbus A380-800s to the Japanese capital.

Etihad Airways has announced the commencement of flights between Abu Dhabi and Tokyo Narita using Airbus A380 aircraft as of June 16th, 2026, replacing the Airbus A350-1000s which currently operate this service.

Its Airbus A380s are configured with 2 seats in The Residence®, 9 seats in First, 70 seats in Business, and 405 seats in Economy, for a total of 486 seats. Meanwhile, its A350-1000s have a capacity for 371 passengers.

Etihad has nine Airbus A380-800s in its fleet, being seven active at the time of publication. A6-APB, A6-APC, A6-APD, A6-APE, A6-APF, A6-APG, A6-APH, A6-API, and A6-APJ are its registration numbers.

American Airlines

The US airline has confirmed its first transatlantic route with Airbus A321XLR aircraft, set to start in March 2026. American’s first A321XLR arrived in Dallas from Toulouse on October 22nd following an 11-hour ferry flight.

New York-Edinburgh, a new seasonal route returning after an eight-year hiatus, will be the first regular transatlantic service for these aircraft, operating daily from March 8th, 2026. In addition to this new connection, American will resume flights between Philadelphia and Edinburgh on March 28th, 2026, which will be offered during Summer 2026 by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

American’s Airbus A321XLRs will be configured with 20 seats in First, 12 seats in Premium Economy, and 123 seats in Economy, giving a total of 155 seats.

Regarding the first scheduled flight with the A321XLR, the airline plans to initiate operations in mid-December with the New York-Los Angeles route.

Air Transat

Effective June 12th, 2026, the Canadian airline will launch a new seasonal route between Canada and Morocco, operating once a week with 199-seat Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Agadir will join Casablanca and Marrakech, its other destinations in Morocco. Casablanca is summer seasonal, while Marrakech is operated year-round.

Iberia

Newark and Toronto, Iberia’s new destinations in North America.

In 2026, the Spanish airline will begin flights to/from Madrid on Airbus A321XLR aircraft, which are configured with 14 seats in Business and 168 seats in Economy.

Boston, Doha (eff December 9th), New York (JFK), San Juan, Santo Domingo, and Washington DC are the current routes for Iberia’s A321XLR aircraft, all from Madrid. Recife, a new destination for Iberia, will begin in December and will be served by these aircraft.

jetBlue

jetBlue Airways continues to expand its operations in Europe with the launch of two new seasonal routes from Boston, which will be operated using Airbus A321neo LR aircraft, configured for 138 passengers in two classes (24 seats in Business and 114 seats in Economy).

LATAM

LATAM Airlines will have a significant international expansion from São Paulo, one of its main hubs in South America, with the introduction of three new intercontinental destinations:

The three routes will be provided by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

In addition, effective March 28th, 2026, LATAM Chile will resume flights between Santiago de Chile and Neuquén (Argentina) after a six-year hiatus. It will operate four times weekly with Airbus A320s.

British Airways

London – Guernsey, British Airways’ new route.

Beginning April 19th, 2026, the British flag carrier will provide a daily frequency on this service, to be performed on 180-seat Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Icelandair

Icelandair has confirmed the addition of a new route between Iceland and Greenland, which will commence on July 2nd, 2026, and will be operated during Summer 2026.

The airline will serve four times per week between Reykjavik and Qaqortoq with Dash 8-200 and Dash 8-Q400 aircraft, configured for 36 and 72 passengers, respectively.

ITA

As of January 1st, 2026, the Italian airline will restart its services to Tel Aviv from Rome, offering two daily flights on Airbus A321neo aircraft configured for 194 passengers.

The Israeli city will be ITA Airways’ third regular destination in the Middle East, after Dubai and Riyadh, also provided by A321neos.

Nordwind

Holguín (Cuba), Nordwind Airlines’ new destination.

The Russian airline began operations between Moscow Sheremetyevo and the Cuban city on November 8th. According to our data, the Boeing 777-35E(ER), registration RA-73847, departed from the Russian capital at 09:42 local time and arrived in Holguín at 14:58 local time after a 13-hour flight. 

 

Like Conviasa’s flights to Russia and China from Venezuela, these Nordwind services to Holguín will not operate on a regular schedule, with flights planned every 10 days.

Caracas, Cayo Coco, Holguín, and Varadero are its current destinations on the American continent, all of which are in Venezuela or Cuba.

WestJet

The Canadian airline will add new routes between Canada and Europe by Summer 2026, which will be operated on narrow-body aircraft.

Cardiff, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Lisbon, Madrid, and Ponta Delgada will be WestJet’s new destinations, serving with 174-seat Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft in single class, from Halifax or Toronto.

Air Canada

Berlin, Brussels, Nantes, and Tel Aviv will be Air Canada’s new destinations for Summer 2026.

The airline will introduce four new routes from Canada, three of which will be conducted with narrow-body aircraft, and the remaining one by wide-body aircraft.

In addition, starting June 5th, 2026, Air Canada will resume flights between Montreal and Tel Aviv, which it plans to maintain year-round. Montreal-Nantes, Halifax-Brussels, and Montreal-Berlin will be offered during the summer.

Air New Zealand

At 09:47 local time on November 1st, Air New Zealand’s first flight departed from Auckland International Airport bound for Noumea, the capital of New Caledonia. The airline is resuming this service after a year and a half.

In accordance with our database, ANZ will fly once-weekly with 165-seat Airbus A320neo and 214/217-seat Airbus A321neo aircraft, becoming the second carrier to operate in the New Zealand-New Caledonia market, alongside Aircalin.

Air Arabia

Effective March 29th, 2026, Air Arabia will launch flights between Sharjah and London Gatwick, operating Airbus A321neo aircraft configured for 215 passengers.

The British capital will be the airline’s first destination in the United Kingdom and its seventh in Europe, following Istanbul, Krakow, Milan, Vienna, and Warsaw.

Kuwait Airways

Giza Sphinx, Kuwait Airways’ new destination in Egypt.

The Kuwait flag airline will open a new scheduled route to Africa starting December 16th, to be carried out on Airbus A320neo aircraft with a capacity for 134 passengers in two classes.

Kuwait Airways currently performs 21 weekly flights between Kuwait City and Cairo, 14 of which are conducted by Boeing 777-300(ER)s and the other seven with Airbus A330neos.

Airlink

On February 2nd, 2026, at 10:30 local time, Airlink’s inaugural flight to Nacala will depart from Johannesburg. The airline will add a new route between South Africa and Mozambique, offering twice-weekly service by Embraer 135 aircraft.

Royal Air Maroc

The Moroccan airline launched a new domestic route in the country in November, which will be operated on ATR 72-600 aircraft with a capacity for 70 passengers. According to our database, the first scheduled flight on the Casablanca-Smara route took place on November 10th.
