Etihad Airways has announced the commencement of flights between Abu Dhabi and Tokyo Narita using Airbus A380 aircraft as of June 16th, 2026, replacing the Airbus A350-1000s which currently operate this service.
Its Airbus A380s are configured with 2 seats in The Residence®, 9 seats in First, 70 seats in Business, and 405 seats in Economy, for a total of 486 seats. Meanwhile, its A350-1000s have a capacity for 371 passengers.

American Airlines
The US airline has confirmed its first transatlantic route with Airbus A321XLR aircraft, set to start in March 2026. American’s first A321XLR arrived in Dallas from Toulouse on October 22nd following an 11-hour ferry flight.
New York-Edinburgh, a new seasonal route returning after an eight-year hiatus, will be the first regular transatlantic service for these aircraft, operating daily from March 8th, 2026. In addition to this new connection, American will resume flights between Philadelphia and Edinburgh on March 28th, 2026, which will be offered during Summer 2026 by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
