At 14:15 local time on August 27th, 2024, KLM’s first Airbus A321neo, registration PH-AXA, took off from Hamburg for Amsterdam on its delivery flight, arriving at 14:53 local time after a 38-minute flight. Following its presentation at AMS, this aircraft conducted several test flights in September prior to the commencement of regular operations.
Its first test flight was on September 5th, 2024, and until September 14th, 2024, it made more than 55 test flights around Europe, mainly in Aarhus, Amsterdam, Leipzig, Paris Vatry Chalons Airport, and Prestwick, as you can see in our database. The first scheduled flight took place on September 16th, 2024, with flight KL1267 between Amsterdam and Copenhagen, departing from Schiphol at 07:45 local time.

One year later…
Almost a year later, on August 21st, 2025, at 16:32 local time, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ tenth Airbus A321neo, the newest addition to the airline’s fleet, landed at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport from Hamburg on a ferry flight. The aircraft, with registration PH-AXK, was introduced at the main Dutch airport after its arrival and entered service on August 24th with flight KL1583 between Amsterdam and Lisbon.
KLM has reached 10 Airbus A321neo aircraft in its fleet for the first time and plans to add at least seven more. Regarding the other eight A321neo, the second Airbus A321-252NX was delivered on September 27th, 2024, the third on December 10th, 2024, the fourth on December 19th, 2024, the fifth on March 27th, 2025, the sixth on April 4th, 2025, the seventh on April 15th, 2025, the eighth on May 30th, 2025, and the ninth on July 3rd, 2025.

The registrations for KLM’s next seven Airbus A321neo aircraft have already been filed, which will be PH-AXL, PH-AXM, PH-AXN, PH-AXP, PH-AXR, PH-AXT, and PH-AXU. Recently, the first photo of KLM’s 11th A321neo was released. It will be registered as PH-AXL and is currently in Hamburg undergoing final preparations before joining the fleet.
All Airbus A321neo aircraft belonging to Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij, also known as KLM, are configured for 227 passengers in single class. These aircraft only operate within Europe to/from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, where they are based.

Athens, Barcelona, Bergen, Berlin, Billund, Budapest, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London Heathrow, Manchester, Rome Fiumicino, and Stockholm Arlanda are the regular routes for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ A321neo aircraft, which will be maintained during summer 2025. New additions or additional flights may be added in the near future.
Fleet
KLM has 187 aircraft in its fleet, comprising 21 Airbus, 102 Boeing, and 66 Embraer aircraft, including KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, KLM Cargo, and KLM CityHopper. Ten are A321neo, six are A330-200, five are A330-300, six are 737-700, 31 are 737-800, five are 737-900, three are 747-400(F), 15 are 777-200, 16 are 777-300, 13 are 787-9, 11 are 787-10, 26 are E190, 23 are E295-E2, and 17 are E175.
The airline aims to replace its Boeing 737s with Airbus A321neo aircraft. At publication time, KLM’s order for the A321neo had not been specified, but it expects to have 13 aircraft of this type in its fleet by the end of this year.
In December 2021, the Air France-KLM Group placed an order for 100 aircraft from the Airbus A320neo family, with an option for 60 more, which will be incorporated by Transavia. The carrier currently has 19 A320neo and 13 A321neo aircraft, averaging one year old.

KLM will offer 161 destinations during summer 2025, being 95 within Europe and 66 intercontinental. The airline is increasing its seat capacity by 4% compared to summer 2024, although its intercontinental offering for summer 2025 is limited, as announced by the carrier, due to long delivery times for aircraft parts and a shortage of pilots.
