Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V., or simply known as KLM, announced a major international expansion, with three new routes from its main hub in Amsterdam. New service to the United States, Guyana and India will begin in 2025.

The airline has flights to the United States and India, operating to Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Portland, San Francisco and Washington DC in the case of the US, while Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai in India. Guyana, in South America, will be a new country for KLM.

Effective May 8th, 2025, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will inaugurate services between Amsterdam and San Diego, which will be offered with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft configured for 275 passengers in three classes (30 seats in World Business, 21 seats in Premium Comfort and 224 seats in Economy).

London Heathrow and Munich are San Diego’s current connections to Europe, provided by British Airways and Lufthansa respectively, both on Airbus A350s.

Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday

In addition to U.S. destinations, as far as other routes to North America are concerned, the Dutch carrier flies to Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, all from/to AMS.

Guyana will enter KLM’s regular schedule as of June 4th, 2025, on a triangular route with Sint Maarten.

The airline will commence flights to the South American country with the Amsterdam – Sint Maarten – Georgetown – Amsterdam service, to be carried by Airbus A330-200 planes. Unlike the 787s, the A330s have two seating classes (18 World Business and 246 Economy), for a total of 264 seats.

Wednesday and Saturday

KLM will be the first carrier to perform non-stop flights between Georgetown and Europe. British, the only current European airline to operate from the Guyanese capital, offers the London Gatwick – Vieux Fort – Georgetown route and vice versa with the 272-seat Boeing 777-200(ER), twice a week.

With Guyana, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will reach 16 markets in Latin America, including Argentina, Aruba, Bonaire, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Curaçao, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Sint Maarten, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.

Regarding Hyderabad, its new destination in India, the first flight from Amsterdam will be on September 2nd, 2025. In accordance with its website, the route will be served three times weekly using Boeing 777-200(ER) airplanes configured for 288 passengers.

KLM will offer 864 seats per week between Amsterdam and Hyderabad on each leg, while San Diego will have 39 fewer weekly seats, for a total of 825. As for Georgetown, on its triangular route with Sint Maarten, it will provide 528 seats a week.

Tuesday, Friday and Sunday

The company operates to Bengaluru and Mumbai by Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft, while to Delhi on the 381-seat Boeing 777-300(ER), which has 63 more seats than 787-10s.

Currently, according to our database, its other routes to Asia are Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Beijing, Dammam, Denpasar, Dubai, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Osaka, Riyadh, Seoul Incheon, Shanghai Pudong, Singapore, Taipei and Tokyo Narita.

The short-haul fleet is distributed between Airbus A321s and Boeing 737s, while for long-haul operations it uses Airbus A330s, Boeing 777s and Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The company also has a regional subsidiary, with a fleet composed of three types of Embraer aircraft.

With regard to the cargo market, four Boeing 747-400(ER) are part of KLM Cargo, three of which have the KLM livery, while the other has the Martinair scheme. All of them are operated by Martinair Cargo.
