Delta to fly its largest-ever trans-Atlantic summer schedule in 2025

Delta Air Lines announced a major international expansion to Europe by summer 2025. These new services will be performed from Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis and New York JFK, on Airbus A330-200, Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 767-300(ER) aircraft.

The company is set to fly its largest-ever trans-Atlantic summer schedule in 2025, providing over 700 weekly flights between 33 European destinations. In addition, it will increase its premium seat offerings, with more services by Airbus A330 and Airbus A350, featuring Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin options.

Regarding cities in Europe, Barcelona, Brussels, Catania, Dublin, Naples and Rome will have new flights, being Italy the main market on the continent with new operations.

Alaska completes acquisition of Hawaiian

In mid-September, Alaska Airlines confirmed the acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines, following approval by the Department of Transportation (DOT). Alaska Air Group will reach a total of 350 aircraft in its fleet, including 2 Boeing 787s, 24 Airbus A330s, 18 Airbus A321neo, 235 Boeing 737s, 19 Boeing 717s, 44 Embraer 175s and 8 freighters (3 737-700s, 2 737-800s and 3 A330s).

The Group will have almost 1,500 daily flights and more than 140 destinations, among its 29 international markets in the Americas, Asia, Europe and South Pacific. Seattle, Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, San Diego and Anchorage will be the hubs, with Seattle and Honolulu as the main ones.

Alaska commented in a press release that both brands, which together will employ more than 33,000 people, will be maintained.

Icelandair to start services to Nashville

The Icelandic carrier will reach its 18th destination in North America, with the launch of Nashville, Tennessee.

Flights will commence on May 16th, 2025, being performed four weekly times. At the time of publication, Icelandair will operate this route until October 2025, as it will be conducted during 2025 summer season.

Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Halifax, Minneapolis, New York JFK, Newark, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver and Washington DC are its North American destinations.

Furthermore, shortly before the announcement, Icelandair and Southwest had confirmed a new bilateral agreement, which will allow connections at Baltimore to other Southwest Airlines destinations, as well as on Icelandair’s operations to Europe.

Advanced Air

The airline schedules new flights within New Mexico, beginning December 19th. Advanced Air will offer four services a week to Angel Fire from Albuquerque with Beechcraft aircraft.

Angel Fire will enter Advanced’s network, while the carrier will reach four destinations to/from ABQ.

Aeromexico

As of December, the Mexican company will have a major expansion in the USA, with the start of eight new routes. Four will be from/to Guadalajara, and the remaining four to/from Monterrey.

Aer Lingus

In Q2 2025, the airline will expand services between Ireland and the US, by increasing operations to Denver and Minneapolis. Aer Lingus, in addition, will change the aircraft used on its DUB-MSP route.

Air Canada

The company will boost its operations to Thailand from 5 to 7 weekly flights on the Vancouver – Bangkok route during winter season. 

According to its website, Air Canada will offer services between the two cities on 298-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners effective October 27th, moving to daily in January 2025.

Air Canada will initiate this seasonal route with three flights per week, increasing to five weekly in December.

Two new routes to the United States

Operations will begin in 2025, and will be conducted using CRJ-900(ER) aircraft seating 76 passengers.

Allegiant Air

On September 9th at 16:35 local time, the first Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 of Allegiant Air arrived at Phoenix (AZA) from Seattle Boeing Field. This is Allegiant’s first Boeing aircraft in 7 years, scheduled to enter regular service effective November, in accordance with the latest flight update.

The airplane is currently undergoing test and certification flights prior to the launch of operations. Allegiant plans to incorporate three more 737 MAX 8-200s by the end of the year.

American

American Airlines will add five new routes to Europe by summer 2025.

avianca

The Colombian company will increase services to Toronto from Bogotá starting October 27th. Avianca will boost from 7 to 11 weekly operations on this route, which serves Airbus A320-200 and Airbus A320neo jets.

BermudAir

More flights to White Plains.

As of October 9th, the carrier will expand its operations between Bermuda and White Plains (from 4 to 5 weekly). The services are performed by Embraer 175s with capacity for 88 passengers.

Baltimore, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Halifax, Orlando, Toronto and White Plains are BermudAir destinations.

Breeze

Washington DC entered Breeze Airways’ regular schedule.

The company will operate four routes from/to IAD, to be carried out on 137-passenger Airbus A220-300s.

Cathay Pacific

The airline will inaugurate flights to Dallas effective April 24th, 2025.

In accordance with its website, Cathay will have a frequency of four operations a week from Hong Kong by Airbus A350-1000s.

Dallas will become Cathay Pacific’s eighth North American destination.

Cape Air

Cape Air, the largest independent regional carrier in the United States, began services between Hyannis and New York in early September, using Cessna aircraft configured with 9 seats.

Hyannis, Massachusetts, is located 310 kilometers from New York City’s John F. Kennedy Airport.

From Hyannis, the airline operates to Boston, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and New York JFK.

Contour Airlines

Effective October 1st, Contour will fly between Chicago O’Hare and Manistee. Services will be with CRJ-200 and Embraer 135 jets.

Delta

As well as the major international expansion, Delta Air Lines will resume operations between Atlanta and San Diego using widebody aircraft. The first flight with Boeing 767-300(ER) will take place on November 10th and will be offered daily.

Denver Air Connection

Jackson, Tennessee, will be added to the airline’s schedule.

On December 2nd, services will start, which will operate on Embraer 145s for 50 passengers from Atlanta and Chicago.

Frontier

Frontier Airlines, as of December, intends to begin 14 new domestic routes, to be carried by Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 aircraft.

The airline will increase capacity on selected routes, changing from 162-seat Airbus A320-200s to 200-seat A321-200s:

LATAM

LATAM Airlines will expand services between Punta Cana and Miami in November and December.

Currently, the airline operates once per week with Boeing 787-8 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jets for 247 and 313 passengers, respectively.

Bogotá, Cancún, Fortaleza, Lima, Quito, Santiago and Sao Paulo are other LATAM destinations from Miami.

Mokulele

On October 1st, the carrier will add more inter-island operations in Hawaii.

Mokulele Air, based in Kahului, will launch the Kahului – Waimea – Kailua-Kona route and vice versa. Flights will be conducted with a daily frequency on 8-passenger Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft.

PAL Airlines/Air Canada

Air Canada will modify its operations in Halifax, switching the aircraft used on two of its regular routes.

As per our database, effective October 1st, PAL Airlines will begin covering Air Canada flights from Halifax to Boston and Newark, which will be carried using the 76-seat, single-class Dash 8s, on a daily basis each.

Boston, Deer Lake, Gander, Goose Bay, London Heathrow, Montreal, Newark, Ottawa, St. John’s, Toronto and Vancouver are served by Air Canada from Halifax.

Qantas

The airline will start a new route from Sydney to Honolulu, to be operated by 255/271-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Qantas will replace Jetstar’s current flights on Airbus A321neo jets between the two cities.

Seattle, new destination for Scandinavian Airlines System.

The first scheduled service from Copenhagen will be on May 21st, 2025. SAS will perform five flights a week with 300-seat Airbus A350-900s.
