Air France returns to Kilimanjaro after a 28-year hiatus

Following a 28-year suspension, Air France confirmed it will resume regular operations to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.

The first flight is scheduled for November 18th on the Paris Charles de Gaulle – Zanzibar – Kilimanjaro – Paris Charles de Gaulle route. According to its website, the airline will offer three weekly services with Airbus A350-900 aircraft, which are configured for 324 passengers in three seating classes.

Monday, Wednesday and Saturday

 

Kilimanjaro will be Air France’s third destination in Tanzania.

Etihad Airways launched its first Warner Bros. World livery

The airline announced its new agreement with Warner Bros. World, which represents the largest theme park collaboration to date. Furthermore, this partnership includes a special Etihad livery, featured on a brand new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner (A6-BMA).

This is the first-ever Warner Bros. World-branded aircraft.

Air Arabia

After a four-year hiatus, Air Arabia plans to return to Vienna.

Flights will be operated from December 20th, four times per week.

Athens, Baku, Istanbul (IST), Krakow, Milan Bergamo, Sarajevo, Tbilisi and Yerevan are its destinations in Europe from/to Sharjah.

Air Arabia Maroc

Regarding Air Arabia Maroc, effective October 27th, the airline intends to expand its routes to Europe from Morocco, with the start of flights between Tetouan and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

The company will fly Airbus A320-200s, under the following schedule:

Thursday/Sunday

 

Considering its subsidiaries, Air Arabia Group has 77 aircraft in its fleet.

Air Cairo

Almaty, Air Cairo’s new destination from El Dabaa as of July 23rd.

The operations will have a weekly frequency between the two cities on Airbus A320-200 airplanes, with a capacity of 180 passengers in single class.

Tuesday

 

Air Cairo is the only operator on this route.

Air Côte d’Ivoire

A new Air Cote d’Ivoire Airbus A319 arrived in Abidjan, its hub, last July 11th. The aircraft, registered TU-TRJ, becomes the fourth A319 in the fleet, and the second to be added this year.

This Airbus A319 is 8 years old. Its last operator was Avianca, between October 2016 and November 2023, remaining inactive until then.

Akasa Air

New Akasa Air routes in the Middle East.

The Indian low cost carrier began operations to Jeddah and Abu Dhabi from Ahmedabad and Mumbai, respectively. In both cases, Akasa Air will fly using Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets, with the following frequencies:

Arkia

The Israeli company is scheduled to start flights between Tel Aviv and Manchester beginning October 14th. According to the Arkia Israeli Airlines website, the airline will offer, until October 25th, two services a week.

The Congolese airline, based in Brazzaville, incorporated a 32-year-old McDonnell Douglas MD-82, which had been operating with European Air Charter, a Bulgarian company.

Last July 11th, the MD-82, registered TN-AJW, landed in Brazzaville from Sofia via Cairo. As can be seen through our database, the aircraft has not yet entered service, and remains at BZV.

Starting in October, easyJet will expand its network of destinations in Africa, with the launch of flights to Cape Verde.

The first regular flight of its Airbus A350-900 has been postponed.

As we had announced in previous reports, the first operation was scheduled from Dubai to Bahrain on September 15th. Following a new network update, the airline confirmed the inaugural flight of the A350s will now take place on November 4th, and will enter service with its new route to Edinburgh, at the time of publication.

Ethiopian Airlines

Effective October 27th, the company plans to increase its services on the Addis Ababa – Bamako – Dakar route, which it currently operates with a daily frequency by Boeing 777-200(LR) and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

In line with its website, Ethiopian will reach 13 flights per week.

Kenya Airways

On July 8th, Kenya Airways boosted its flight frequency between Nairobi and New York JFK, expanding from nine to ten services a week.

New York is Kenya Airways’ only destination in the Americas. Its main network is within Africa, in addition to offering three connections to Europe and Asia, and one to the Middle East.

Nile Air

The company will begin a new connection to Saudi Arabia from Cairo in mid-August.

Nile Air will fly the Cairo – Arar route using the 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft, with this schedule:

Qatar Airways

Effective July 10th, Qatar began its sixth frequency between Doha and Colombo, Sri Lanka, consolidating its leading position in this market.

The airline operates, according to our database, with Airbus A320-200, Airbus A330-200, Airbus A330-300, Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, offering 1,600 daily seats on both legs.

FlySafair will commence services between Johannesburg and Nelspruit on August 2nd. This new domestic route will have two weekly flights with Boeing 737-800s seating 189 passengers in single class.

Currently, both cities have 39 operations a week, all of them by Airlink on Embraer 135 aircraft. Safair will reach its second destination in Nelspruit, after Cape Town.

SAUDIA

During September, Saudi International Airlines plans more flights to Manchester. It will be on a limited schedule, as the carrier will have a daily frequency from Jeddah between September 11th and the 25th.

London (Gatwick and Heathrow) and Manchester are its destinations in the UK.

Smartwings

The company will resume services between Vienna and Espargos from December 20th for winter 2024/25. Smartwings will perform one flight per week with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

This route had been operated by the airline between December 22nd, 2023 and May 10th, as can be seen through our database.

Tunisair

Douala and Libreville, new Tunisair connections.

In accordance to its website, the services will be combined, and will have three weekly frequencies on Airbus A320neo starting December 14th.

Monday and Wednesday

 

Saturday

 

It will be the only operator from Tunisia to Gabon and Cameroon.

Uganda Airlines

On September, Uganda Airlines will add two new routes to/from Entebbe (EBB), the airline’s hub in the country.

The operations will be carried out with Airbus A330-800neo and CRJ-900 airplanes of 261 and 76 seats, respectively:

Royal Jordanian was the only airline in this market to receive a new aircraft from the factory during July.

The plane, an Embraer E190-E2 with registration JY-RED, departed on June 28th from São José dos Campos, where Embraer’s factory in Brazil is located.

São José dos Campos – Recife was the first leg, followed by Recife – Gran Canaria on July 1st, and the final segment to Amman took place on July 3rd.

A few hours after its arrival in Jordan, the aircraft entered service on flight RJ 5131 between Amman and Athens.
